@mrswagner:  Totally normal!! Your cervix can be engorged during pregnancy, and trying hard to push a Bridesmaid or Best Man can cause a vein to burst. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about!! If it gets worse obviously give the doc a call but a bit of spotting after trying to relieve constipation is very common.

yesss def normal. the cervix is very sensitive and straining can cause that to happen. If it turns into bright red heavy bleeding there would be more reason for concern!

Don’t strain with bowel movements! That is what gives you nasty hemorrhoids. Try suppositories and/or warm water enemas.

Totally normal. I’ve had it once or twice.

Totally happened to me, except I had like BRIGHT red bleeding, not just pink spotting so I completely freaked out.  It was all from my cervix and just straining so hard to have a Bridesmaid or Best Man I popped a blood vessel on it.  It kept bleeding on/off for the next 5 days and since then (knock on wood) haven’t had any type of spotting at all (29 weeks today).  You definitely need to get that constipation under control with something other than straining super hard to have a Bridesmaid or Best Man, ask your doctor about colace or mirilax or try drinking some prune juice.

FWIW: I got SO incredibly constipated I had to resort to an enema to get everything cleared out because taking stool softeners wasn’t doing anything for me.  After that I tried to stay on top of it better with stool softeners but nothing seemed to really help that much (I was also taking Zofran…not helping me out any).  I basically spent the entire first trimester completely backed up.  It got better 2nd trimester when I didn’t need to take Zofran anymore.

This happened to me too, but it was around the 4 or 5 month mark.  I was so determined to feel relief from the awful constipatiogains gas pain. At the conclsion of my failed bathroom trip, I wiped and as i glanced down, i saw a faint orangey/red color.  I panicked for a bit but then that was it….nothing else happened and I still felt bloated and gross. Lol
