I’m setting in to this unexpected pregnancy and starting to feel genuinely excited about it! I’m having a baby, people!
One of my favorite new things is thinking of names! My husband and I have decided that he will choose the baby’s Chinese name, and I will choose the English name. I’m thinking about boy names first, since I have way more in mind for girls and that will take longer to decide. These are just a few I’ve come up with, and I’d love some opinions.
The middle name will be James for sure, and the baby will.have my husband’s last name, which is Lin.

I picked Benjamin because that’s one of my picks for our baby boy due in January but my husband isn’t to keen on it. I really like Soren too. Congrats!

Congratulations to you too!

I picked Alexander because my neighbor’s little boy’s name is Alexander and they call him Xander, said like Zander but spelled with the X. Xander is such a cute nickname and Alexander is a great name for a grown man someday. Plus, I think Xander Lin sounds cool! Congrats!!!

I like all of those names with the exception of Soren. My favourites are Benjamin and Alexander. Those are the names I would have picked also if I had had a boy. Congratulations to you!

Nathanial or Alexander would be my top picks.
Soren and Daniel are my least favorite.

First of all, congratulations. Even though I never met you, I’m happy for you after I read your short story about infertility. Going back to the names, I really like Soren.

Benjamin, Nathaniel and Alexander are among my favorite boys’ names.

I looooooooooooove the name Daniel. It ages so well. I love names that age well.

I voted for Daniel, but this is a rare case when I actually really like every name on the list!

I think you also should consider how the names will sound shortened, which people will be sure to do on their own, even if you don’t.
My actual vote was for Benjamin. I love Benjamin James. Such a nice flow.

I love Benjamin, but I think that some people might call him BJ which might be a source of teasing. With a J middle name I think the nicknames might end up being AJ, DJ, etc, so you might want to think about that too. I vote for Alexander!

I have a two month old named Benjamin so that gets my vote! Also love Alexander. Congratulations on your pregnancy! What an amazing story.

I think @bouviebee has a really good point – while a nice middle name is great the real flow has to be firstname/lastname and most of these names have obvious nicknames that will likely get adopted.
I actually loved the name Soren, but don’t like the rhyming of Soren Lin.
I like Matt, Ben, and Nate

Soren has become a new favorite of mine after hearing it in ‘Good Boys’.
I also really like ‘Matthew’ and ‘Benjamin’.
