I know there are a gazzilion posts about names. I am going to be gazzilion and one.
Darling Husband and I are due in Nov. Team green. We have a name picked for a girl, but we cannot come to up with a boys name we both LOVE.
We don’t want anything too “trendy” or different. We are going for more traditional names.
Names i like but he has vetoed, are Carter and Grayson. We both like Carson but think people would shorten it to “Carse” or something odd. The name Liam is out (I dated a Liam and wish to never see that name again lol).
Since there are other posts on here with the same info, our last name is Carroll. A middle name right now would be Keith after his dad, and my dad’s middle name. It’s not set in stone mind you and are open to changing it.
I am desperte for some boys name suggestions. Something that sounds okay if shortened (ie “Ben” for Benjamin, for example) and goes with Carroll.
Any suggestions?? We are both so stumped, even after looking at lots of website and flipping through a couple baby names books.

1st I love Carter and Grayson, those were on my top list! I know, I know that doesn’t help.
What about Jackson? I know it’s somewhat being over played right now, but I think it goes well with your last name and that middle name. Other than that, I can’t think of anything. Maybe go through a list of boys names and pick a few and create a poll? Good luck!! Can’t wait to hear what you choose! X

Um…does your husband like more traditional names, then?

Our boy name is Sam! I think that goes nicely with Carroll. 🙂

Spencer, Lorenzo, Allan, Green… (I am looking at a list of names from 1884 — Social Security records. I LOVE THIS STUFF.)

@Yellow.Clover: Carter is honestly my #1 pick. Stupid me, he asked where I saw it. I told him the truth which was that when I dated my 2nd boyfriend (which was when I was 19 lol) his sister had a baby when we were together and named him Carter. He was the cutest little thing. I still LOVE the name. I think it goes so well. Maybe he just associates it with an ex? I don’t know, I need to push this one a little more I think!!
Also – LOVE Jackson. Too bad my parents just named their puppy that name. LMAO. Jeez. ha ha!
PS. i miss you lady! xoxox i hope you are well… I am going to PM you. 🙂
@peachacid: Anderson actually caught my eye… interesting! And yes, Darling Husband does like the more “traditional” names…

Call me crazy, but I would never call Carter, Grayson, Anderson, Jackson, etc. “traditional” names. To me, those are “last-names-used-as-first-names,” which I am all in favor of if it’s a family name or has a direct personal connection to the parents – then I can understand calling them somewhat traditional. If not, then they strike me as being firmly in the “trendy” camp.
Anyhow, if you like them, that’s your call. If you guys really do like traditional names, Daniel Keith Carroll sprang to my mind. Daniel is a great traditional name, with a nice nickname automatically included.

@KCKnd2: Actually, you are totally right. Perhaps my description of “traditional” is a bit off… i think I was meaning less “trendy” as in odd names, spellings, unisex or things of that nature. But yes, Anderson, Carter etc are/were usually last names. Good point!
Oddly enough, I’ve never considered Daniel! That is quite nice… going to have to suggest that one!

Any family male first names that you both like?

Benjamin, Jacob, Derrick, Daniel
Benjamin easily shortens to Ben or as I affectionatly call my DS “Jamin” (like jamming) It also shortens to Benny, which I am NOT so fond of.
Jacob (my other son) shortens to Jake pretty easily.
Derrick..well, that’s just classical, and doesn’t really shorten.
Daniel – Dan…also a good name.

our names are clark and reid. i don’t personally love clark with your last name though. clark keith carroll isn’t great. but reid is nice! i think it’s a strong name that won’t get mispronounced and sounds good with your last name!
i think william would be nice too. it’s common, i know. but will carroll sounds good!

Also I love Mitchell and Thomas and will use them as middle names as they are my middle and last names, respectively 🙂
Thomas Keith Carroll
Mitchell Keith Carroll
I like em 🙂

@StaceyA: Darn! *snaps fingers* All these cute pups taking all our cute baby names! 😉 After thinking about Carter, not sure how well Carter Keith Carroll goes together. It might be a bit of a tongue twister for the little guy?
And LOVE Anderson! That’s my #1! 🙂 Oh lil Andy – Eeep! Too bad hubby hates it and has vetoed me. But I WILL WIN, YES I WILL! Bahahhahhahaaaa.
Sounds like we have similar tastes when it comes to names.
Other name I like, but might be too trendy, are: Ryland, Branson, Corbin – those are all on my list as well.

If you’ve got a surname style preference, something like Hudson might work.
