I think Arlo is really cute with Isla, it is a lot of vowel sounds though. Some names that I really like when I think about things that would go with Isla are Jack and Roman.

I think the only thing that might clash about them is that your eldest ends with A and youngest would start with A, and so does the word “and”, so it sounds like a lot of alliteration! “IslA And Arlo”.

I’m thinking Otto as an alternative with the same feel…?

I think Isla and Eliot would be adorable. Everett is cute as well.

I’m not sure names have to “go together.” Unless you want to do the cutesy family thing where all siblings have names that start with the same letter (I despise that, but it’s none of my business), just choose names you like for a boy, narrow them down and choose one. I am trying to think of a name that would sound really bad with Isla, and I can’t. Isla and Michael. Isla and Christopher. Isla and Noah. Isla and David. They’re all good.

Willem

Ronan

Callum

Jude

Oscar is great!  Isla and Arlo does feel a little bit tongue twistery.

echomomm :  agree. I don’t think sibling names have to be a set. My husband and his sister have the same name ….

my two don’t really ‘go together’ one is Scottish / English and the other Welsh. They are both short names though.

echomomm :  You used four very neutral, common names as your examples.  If you think about less common boys names with more of a distinct style, they can start to clash with the sleek, modern-classic, “liquid” feel of Isla – Isla and Brixten, Isla and Nehemiah, Isla and Antonio, Isla and Dwayne, or Isla and Cornelius might come across as a bit odd of a pairing.  Wanting something with a similar sort of feel to the first child’s name is very normal and a far cry from picking mitchy matchy options like all the same initial.

tm6173 :  Ashley? It’s two syllables but not 4 letters, and there is a repetition in the “a” and “e” sound.

MollyCatherine :  I don’t think any of your examples sound particular weird together…

The only thing I would avoid is having names that are too similar- since that can get confusing when you’re calling for one kid and they both think you said their name. Otherwise, I think just pick the name you like best.

I agree that I’m not sold on Isla and Arlo. I know people are saying names don’t have to go together but… the way I consider ‘going together’ is more of a common style and ideally a sound mismatch… if that makes sense. Like you are not trying to match sounds etc

A poster above suggested Jasper which is one of my favourites (husband veto’d it). I also love Ellis, and I feel like Felix might suit your style (and sounds pretty ‘hip’ with Isla hahaha).
