Make up a BS resume and send it in.  See what it’s really all about?

I wouldn’t panic. My job has been posted online for like 4 months before I got it, and continues to be posted.

The first time around, it was posted because the position got pulled but they were collecting resumes for when it was reinstated after the budget meetings, the second time around it was because it was they were actually just looking for another person to do the same job with me.

You never know what is going on with job postings. They may just be gauging what kind of person they could get if they added a position or something similar. Not all job postings are “live” in fact, I would guess a vast majority of those out there today are not.

Yikes.  Are they really busy to the point they would need an extra person? If not, tell him to start sending out his resume ASAP.  Not to scare you but if he is at-will (which Im assuming he is) they can just tell you to pack your bags, just like that.

That sucks, hopefully its not his job, but he should be safe and try to find something else if possible just in case

So you would both rather freak out then talk with his boss so you actually know?  I’d would talk with the boss…AND get the resume together.  Always have the ole resume out there.  You just never know what might turn up.

@Bostongrl25: Urgh.  I’m so sorry to hear this.  I hope it all works out.

Hmmm. I would warn against “confronting” them about the job posting, because that would confirm your Boyfriend or Best Friend is unhappy and already has been looking for other jobs!

The fact that they purposely told him to interview in the morning so the other guy wouldn’t notice is not a good sign.  Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

OMG! That’s a HORRIBLE place of work! I cannot imagine working there for any reason. I know I am saying that now because I am not in that situation. However, I would much rather find a more stressful job in terms of work, than be there. I hope he finds something SOON!
