FutureMrsGG:  Our boy name is John (Jack). Our runners up were Patrick, Mark, and Ryan.

What types of names do you like? Any concerns about last names?

I personally like Collin, Garrett, and Mason, but I’m big on surnames as first names. I know someone who named their daughter Emerson; I thought it was a girl’s name.

Pollywog:  Our boy name is John too!! But I’m pregnant with a girl, lol, so that will have to wait.

OP, with Gross, I feel like a more than one syllable name is better. Carter, Daniel, Oliver?

Do either of you have a strong heritage to a specific country because thats a good place to start looking for ideas. If not consider whether you are more drawn to modern American sounding names like Greyson, Hudson, Tyler etc or do you prefer traditional English like Charlie, Thomas, George or Henry. Do you like strong/ hard sounding names like Nick and Alex or softer sounding like Theo and Sam? If you get really stuck just start reading out names with your surname, write down some that sound good and see if one sticks the next day.

FutureMrsGG:  We don’t know the sex of baby, and we’re not planning on finding out until delivery day ๐Ÿ™‚ but we also struggled SO bad with the boy name… DH is a teacher and has had bad experiences with so many kids lol — We ended up going with Thomas Ace (Thomas DH’s name + his grandfathers — and we both love Ace, which is probably what we’ll call our son, if we have a boy)
