Check out Nameberry.com. They have a name suggestion tool there. you put in names you like and it gives you similar names.

Litereally i live on Nameberry. Picking names is really hard.

Thats so the opposite of DH & I! we arent preggo yet but have like 10 boys names & like 3 girls names we like.. oops.

looks like youre going more for a unique name here, but we’ve decided our first so will be William. Ive never even met a william so its about as different & unused as we will go. ๐Ÿ™‚

FutureMrsGG:  If you like Emerson, you could go with Edison–those are pretty similar and Edison is not a unisex name.

Boys’ names that have a similar feel to Emerson:

Anderson, Harrison, Jackson, Jason, Mason, Dawson, Weston, Easton, Hudson, Grayson, Lawson, Carson, Thompson, Jensen, Landon, Camden, Damian, Kaiden, Tristan, Bennett, Beckett, Logan, Liam, Hunter, Colton, Chase, Asher

I also think of Emerson as a girl’s name, it’s in our top ten (we’re not TTC)!

My favorites are Jackson (so sad that it’s so overdone), William, and Carter.

My standards for boy names are:  will this person sound like someone trustworthy if they run for Congress one day?

I hate new age-y, modern names.

I have Emerson in my top boys names as well. I also have Finn, Parker, Oliver, Blake, Cohen, Jameson, Micah, Max, James, Hudson, and Everett. I tend to like girls names better than boys!

FutureMrsGG:  Ok, I’m sorry if this comes across as unwanted rudeness…but with a last name like Gross – I think you have to pick a very traditional masculine name because that kid will teased to high heaven. For example, Emerson Gross…I wouldn’t. I would pick a nickname proof solid first name. Just my 2 cents.

Go with Jack, Henry, Carter, Eric, William, etc. I also like PP’s would think of Emerson as a girl’s name.

I agree with you that boy names are harder than girl’s names! Two that DH and I like are Connor and Milo.
