Personally I would just do the invisalign after the wedding! I mostly say that because the process of getting them on and off is long and I wouldn’t want to go through that twice! They shouldn’t move terribly during that time frame…but you can always ask your orthodontist.

I depends on your teeth.  I know my teeth will move quickly (like – within a week I can tell) if I don’t wear retainers.  That’s why I got permenant retainers bonded to the backs of my teeth.

A lot of it depends on your personality and how good you are with sticking to things. For me, going to Invisalign wouldn’t have worked…I would have been too tempted to take them off! Out of curiousity, what would the cost be with either option?

@Mrs.KMM:  I hope you brush your teeth really well! Those permanent retainer bars are a nightmare for tooth decay. Many orthos won’t place them anymore

OP: Your teeth would probably move pretty quickly, but I imagine that the ortho would send you home with some retainers to help keep things in their place.

I just had my braces taken off for my wedding and put back on. My orthodontist gave me a Trutain retainer (looks like Invisalign) to wear while they were off. My appointment to get them back on was 20 minutes long (I only have braces on the top).

@raisedonrobbery:  I have had my braces off for 5 years, they only started moving 2 years ago when my wisdom teeth came in. So I don’t think your teeth will move back noticably in 10 days. Also, I would go back to normal braces. I hated my invisalign after i got my braces off

I would go with invisalign.  I think a lot of people use them now as retainers anyway.

I didn’t wear my retainers, and my teeth that had previously been moved a tooth’s distance forward moved maybe 1mm backward.

I still get compliments on my alignment, even from my dentist.

Are they going to give you retainers to wear at night during those 10 days? If you’re diligent about it you shouldn’t worry about your teeth moving. Also put in another vote for invisalign!
