How very kind of you. A gift card would be wonderful if you can do it. Target, Walmart etc. I believe you can buy it on the website and have it shipped right to her.

I’m trying to think…burp clothes were big, maybe some pacifiers? Clothes in a bit larger size say 3-6 months-onesies, socks things like that. I have no experience shipping across the border so I’m sorry if these are stupid ideas!

A number of my friends have had babies recently and they insist that items for when the baby is older (6-12months) is helpful.  I’ve also sent a ‘parental’ care package before with gift cards to local grocery delivery, a spa with childcare services, or target (or similar) gift cards.

I just gave first time parents a gift certificate to a paint your own pottery studio so they could get cute, little baby footprints on something. The next day I was told it was the best present they’d received so far. It’s something people don’t think about, but it’s nice to have little feetprints when the kid gets older.

What about the Moby? I got this as a gift and I think it’s a good option because it isn’t as common as the other ‘go-to’ gifts.

It’s avaliable at BabiesRUs and other common baby shops.

Not sure if its common or not, but my friend said one of the most useful things she got at her shower were these little battery charged lights- she kept them plugged in by her bed and then just hit the bottom to turn it on to nurse or change a diaper in the middle of the night.
