What do they feel like? I am 37 weeks pregnant and yesterday it occured to me that I haven’t had any Braxton Hicks contractions (even though I didn’t know what they were!) I was assuming that since they can be mistaken for false labor- then I would really know if I was experiencing them. Well all the articles I read, it said they are not painful but feel like a hard knot in your belly. I have been feeling this for a litle over a week, but just figured it was baby girl in there stretching her legs/arms. Are these hard knots braxton hicks contractions or is it just the baby pushing from the inside out?

I never had any BHs until about 37 weeks. To me, they felt like really mild period cramps, or like when the baby decides to dance on your cervix. 🙂 My belly never really felt tight; it was more of the movement/rolling/cramping feeling in a regular pattern for me.

It’ll feel like a contraction in the sense that the whole uterus will harden…. usually from the bottom to top (or just not all at the same time)
If it’s just a portion/spot of the uterus then that’s probably just baby. =)

Mine felt like the beginning of labor. Not intensive contractions. But in my mind they were, that is until I was actually in labor. You’ll know if it’s braxton hicks if the contractions are irregular. Meaning not every 3 to 5 minutes, but 3 minutes, then 10, then 7, then 15, etc.

I’ve been wondering this too.. I am only 27 weeks, but yesterday I felt my whole stomach tighten, it was uncomfortable but not painful. But I wasn’t sure if it’s something the baby was doing, or a braxton hicks? How do you tell the difference?
My midwife asked me at my 24wk appt if I’d had any, I didn’t even know they start this early,
