My doctors all said BH contractions shouldn’t hurt, just feel uncomfortable.  You could be having real  contractions, but they aren’t doing anything.  I’ve been having the same thing the past few days and my doctor said I have an irritable uterus.  Basically having non-productive contractions.  They HURT like crazy too.  Try a warm bath or shower if you can.  That seems to help me a little.

@greenviolets:

I believe the doctor will check your cervix when you go in next. Call hospital if you have the contractions 5 minutes apart for two hours. Drink plenty of water.

Don’t worry. I admitted myself at 32 weeks for contractions. I was scared but my cervix was fine. I was just ordered to drink more water.

My Bradley instructor recommends walking to see if contractions are real or Braxton Hicks, but if you’re on bedrest, that’s a no-go.  Maybe try changing positions somewhat, and like many others have said, lots of water!

@Cady:  Yes, definitely load yourself up on liquids!  Even the slightest dehydration can cause contractions.

The midwife at the hospital said if I had 6 regular contractions in an hour, to go in.  If they stay irregular, I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
