If the lady talks to you while she is doing it, it usually makes you not think about it as much (as long as she is talking about other things besides the waxing, lol!). Take lots of deep breaths as she is doing it–the more oxygen your body receives, the less pain you will feel.

I also agree with PPs–Hard wax is SO MUCH better, but i am having trouble finding it in my area.

Ah the hard wax is what my waxing lady was talking about then…but I still don’t fancy it.

Fair play, to you bikini waxing ladies, I wish I could go through it.

My waxer suggested numbing spray that you can buy at Sally’s Beauty Supply and I really say a difference. Your salon may have it but where I live (Germany) she told me she was not allowed to apply it but suggested I bu and bring my own and spraying it on about 5-10 minutes before she got to work really made a difference. It really is worth the pain for the extended days of smoothness, especially when planning on spending time at hte beach, no salt water razor burn!

Last time, I had my legs done too (pre-wedding) but was less satisfied with the results and would not do that again.

I’m not an expert but I was told to wear cotton underwear and I always make sure to choose a pair that does not have elastic around the legs like boyshorts. If I were to go there and home I would wear yoga pants or something without a zipper as well.

I’ve had a few, but never had any issues. It does hurt, but it’s not excruciating pain, ya know? I wonder if you can use a numbing gel like lidocaine or something beforehand? Besides the spray, has anyone tried anything else?

I have never done a brazillian, but done a good bikini (or everything but a landing strip) multiple times.

My first one, was amazing. The lady was nice, and didn’t miss a hair. It was baby smooth and lasted like 2 months.

Then I moved, faaaaar away, and can never find a salon with similar results. I think it is due to the fact that they must not be using hard wax where the first lady did. Because they will get patches where the hair was just ripped off, not taken at the root. Then it grows back quickly/ingrown.

But ok, question, when that is all going on, do you just lay on your back and look straight at the ceiling? Because sometimes I just sit up a bit on my elbows and kinda watch. And sometimes I feel like I am “doing it wrong” becuase the ladies are soooo bitchy and I feel like I am being judged. So then I am all awkardly shy sitting there because they are not nice and I feel they are judging me. Last summer, I went to a new salon (I try a new salon every time trying to find a good wax) and I always wear like older full undies, not a thong. I wear like those undies from American Eagle. And they lady was a cow, and I was just sitting there, and she was fuming (I don’t know if she had a bad day or what) but she was rude. Then she tugged, and it came off halfway, and she got all snarky and said “WELL YOUR UNDERWEAR GOT IN THE WAY!!!!!” and I am like thinking “I don’t want to wear a thong? Like sorry, I am not wearing friggen granny panties woman” I had a bruise after THAT.

Anyways, sorry I typed alot, I am “insecure” about going sometimes.

@kperry3: Yay, glad to hear it went well! The numbness will subside over the next few hours. I miss getting regular waxes–they get so expensive to do on the regular! So it’s been shaving for me lately πŸ™

This is so funny. The first time I was waxed I was absolutely mortified when they went further and further down and were waxing my butt!!

It is SO important to find someone good. I have had amazing people, but I have also have…less than amazing (bleeding, missed spots, bruising). Definitely spend the extra on someone you can trust rather than somewhere that’s just cheaper (but I’m sure you all already knew that!).

@MissHighHeel: I usually take my underwear off and make sure to bring an older pair incase there is a little blood or wax left on me. I agree with what other people said about wearing looser fitting clothes and underwear without elastic on the legs, you’ll definitely be sensitve for a little while.

@helenberrycrunch: It varies depending on where you go.  I’ve had to get on all fours to do my butt, lay on my stomach and hold my butt cheeks apart, and stay on my back and grab my knees.  They all work!
