I think it has a great deal to do with where you live. I live in NJ and just going from North Jersey (near NYC) to central Jersey the price dropped like $15-22 pp. It’s insane. We’re still planning, but it looks like we will spend around 35000 for everything. I know it could be done for less but I am not creative enough to do it.

From what i’ve seen on the boards, it seems like the people active on this site are a lot more “DIY” and budget-wedding than other places i’ve looked, so it may not be a fair representation of the average. Also, i’m sure the real budget-buster weddings in the major US cities drive the average up much more than the smaller more rural events.

Our wedding is coming in at around $28,000 for 70 people, but that is including airfare, 2 weeks in a (nice) hotel, rental car, rings, etc (wedding is in CA, we live in Boston). We also got professional lighting, I custom designed a lot of decor elements that I had laser cut, etc. If we had done a more traditional guest list size (150-ish), it would have easily cost $35,000.

wow… our budget is only $3500.  that includes everything from food to gifts to venue.

however, we don’t have to worry about catering (all we have to do is buy the food, lol), photographer, videography, dj, or officient since they’re all friends and family.

so, we’re cheap.  so sue us.  we’d rather spend the money on a house. 😛

eta: we’re expecting between 100 & 130 guests, too…

I’m still paying for things but our estimate now is almost $50,000.  Insane I know! but that’s because my Fiance wanted wine service and open bar at the venue so instead of $15000 we are now estimating $20,000.  The known cost are below for a wedding in New Hampshire for about 110 people:

Flowers $3500

Uplight $1500

Dress with Alterations $2000

Officiant $390

DJ $1050

Photographer $5312

Cake $790

Transportation $1000

Tux $1000 (he wanted to own and not rent)

Tux shoes and accesories $500

Invitations: $700

Hair and Makeup trial $185

Wedding Bands $2100

Bridal Party Gifts $1500
