I think it’s your hormones re-balancing. This alwaysss happens to me when I go off BC. I also get really oily hair.  After a few months, everything goes back to normal. I went to a dermatologist and got some retin-A to apply to the areas, which worked awesome.

Like a PP said its just your hormones. They are used to being at certain levels and sometimes it takes a bit for the effects to be noticable. I use neutrogena acne clearing makeup. It worked wonders for me. Also mary kay makes a  clay mask that sucks all the oil and grime out of your pores. Its called their clarifying mask. It doesn’t have any exfoliating stuff in it so it wont tear up your face, but it will feel cleaner than it ever has. (No I dont sell mary kay and I don’t like 99% of their products but I love this mask). I hope this helps clear you up. Just don’t over dry your skin or the dead skin will make you break out even more.

Buy a somewhat mild facial cleanser and wash your face 2x a day.  In the morning, apply a benzoyl peroxide 2.5 or 5% spot treatment everywhere that you get breakouts.  Not just where they are currently active, but everywhere you have been getting them.  Bridal Party both prevents and treats breakouts.

Make sure your makeup is non-comodegenic (or however you spell that).  Invest in some oil blotters.

Wash your face at night and try either a salicylic acid spot treatment or another treatment with some type of glycolic or lactic acid.  And put this wherever you usually get breakouts too.

Bridal Party and the SA/GA family of acne meds work differently.  SA is more like an exfoliator that speeds up cell turnover.  Bridal Party kills bacteria.  I’ve always found that Bridal Party worked better for me… but I had the sort of deep, painful breakouts.  I think SA might work better for the superficial stuff, but not sure.

Definitely exfoliate once a week.  You can do this with a washcloth and regular face wash or buy a special exfoliating face wash.

If this keeps up for longer than a month or two, go to the dermatolgist.

ETA: Bridal Party can bleach clothes, so be careful when applying to your shoulders and back.

Sad to say if you’re like me it may be here for good. I went off BC in August and I am still breaking out way worse then ever before when I was on it. It has toned down a little from the beginning when I would get deep painful pimples on my back and mostly hair line but my skin is way worse off BC. Hope your story is different:)
