    I think you left out the cost of the reception? Food, etc?

    We had a small Destination Wedding in Mexico. Think this is accurate:

    $4,050 – Travel / honeymoon (Us)
    $2,000 – His parents’ travel (Us)
    $2,000 – My parents’ travel (Us)
    $   400 – Officiant (Us)
    $   100 – Flowers (Us)
    $   155 – My hair/makeup/manicure (Us)
    $1,300 – Wedding package (ceremony + small reception, including food) (Us)
    $   750 – My ring (Us)
    $   100 – His ring (Us)
    $   270 – Invitations (Us)
    $   123 – Save the Dates (Us)
    $   480 – Dress (My parents)
    $   160 – Dress alterations (Us)
    $    26 – My shoes (Us)
    $  180 – Groom/Best Man attire (Us)

    Total: $12,094

    Our Total: $11,614

    My Parents’ Total: $480

    Obviously we could have saved $4,000 right off the bat by not paying for our parents’ travel expenses. However we wanted to do this for them.

    I’m far too lazy to type out the full breakdown.

    • Total wedding cost (formal event for 75 guests): Approx $12,500
    • My parents contribution (covers about 99% of the total venue bill which includes all catering and limted open bar): $5,000
    • Fiance parents contribution (flowers): $600 (but they’re also paying for the Rehearsal Dinner which isn’t factored into our total)
    • My aunt and uncle (wedding cake): $600
    • My grandmother (wedding dress plus a little extra): $1,000
    • Us (everything else): Approx. $5,300

    We were originally planning a Destination Wedding in Bermuda and I found it to be about right around the same amount as our stateside (upstate, NY) wedding.

    @sarsah82:  Ah, I see.

    We had a small wedding, 55 guests, at my mother’s home. Split 3 ways between my mom and stepdad, dad and stepmom, and ILs.   Cost breakdown:

    $6250 – food, servers, rentals, tips

    $850 – Beer, wine, champagne

    $1000 – Dress

    $60 – Shoes

    $242 – Save the dates, invitations, thank-you notes, postage

    $52 – Guestbook

    $775 – Flowers

    $1000 – Photography

    $500 – Groom’s ring (I had no engagement ring, and my wedding ring was my grandmother’s)

    $1000 – Groom’s suit

    $390 – Salon (for 4 of us)

    $225 – Hotel room and licensing fee for officiant (friend of ours)

    $50 – Backyard lighting

    $150 – materials for the chuppah

    $100 – babysitter for small kids

    $150 – hotel room for night of

    $750 – day after brunch

    $270 – rental car for week of wedding/honeymoon (we don’t own a car)

    ??? – rehearsal dinner; his parents graciously paid and didn’t tell us how much it was

    Total: just under $14,000.  We’d originally projected $12,000, but some of those costs snuck up on us – like, we decided kind of at the last minute to do a brunch, and we hadn’t thought of other details like the babysitter and backyard lighting. Other things cost more than we originally planned, like the groom’s suit – but that was totally worth it because after losing a lot of weight, he didn’t have ANY that fit him. He ended up wearing it to a job interview a week after he bought it, and got the job. So as far as I’m concerned, the suit paid for itself!

    It makes me a little ill to realize how much it was, even for a small wedding at a private home!!  But I don’t regret it at all. It was a wonderful evening with the people who are most important to us in the world. Worth every penny.

    @sarsah82: We kept ours at pretty much the bare minimum as well. When you look at it, our actual “wedding” expenses were only 1/3 of our total budget.

    I’m not going to do a breakdown, but totals in each category.

    • Attire (including wedding gowns, traditional dress, alterations, shoes, accessories, Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, hair, makeup, and Groomsmen tuxes): $2750
    • Flowers (flowers, vases, centrepiece accessories): $470
    • Rehearsal dinner (including day-after brunch, and dinner for girls who helped make florals): $655
    • Ceremony (officiant, location rental, aisle runner, and marriage license): $510
    • Photography (including location booking and gutestbook): $1900
    • Music (Pianist and DJ): $720
    • Invitations and Stationery: $300
    • Reception (bar, wine, food, cake, decor): $7900
    • Gifts and prizes: $400
    • DOC (was free, but we gave a $200 tip)
    • Hotel rooms for Out of Town guests: $1400

    Grand total: about $17K for 130 people. We had budgeted $19.5K, we were over budget on a few minor things, but very under budget for the open bar. Our guests drank way less than we expected! We paid for everything ourselves.

    Total $9290.00 for 75 people

    I think I am off on stuff cause it was below 9k I think, or I added it wrong to begin with. My parents paid for around 8k for the wedding. My Darling Husband and I paid the difference….. his suit, tuxes, and some decor. We also paid for our rings and honeymoon but I don’t include those in the cost of the wedding. It was an additional $3600 for that stuff.
