So, I bought a dress last October that I was happy with. I never got that “I LOVE this dress” feeling. It was at a running of the brides type sale, so it was very high pressure. A combination of the atmosphere and my mother convinced me to buy this dress.
It has now been hanging in my room since. The more I look at it, the more times I have it on (for fittings, etc), the more I am not happy with it. I feel like it makes me look kind of chubby and I feel like a linebacker. There is something weird about the way the neckline sits that makes me feel like my shoulders are very broad. I don’t know what it is.
Bottom line. I finally broke down today and told my mother that I don’t like my dress. That I don’t even really feel pretty in it. She had less of a freakout than I expected. She told me that she wants me to be happy. So…. we’re back on the hunt for a dress.
I’m just frustrated because I now have a situation where I am just over 6 months to my wedding. So I need to find a new dress ASAP. I tried on probably in the range of 100 dresses the first time around and had no response to any of them. I just don’t want to go through all the frustration and disappointment again.
Is 6 months even long enough to order a new one?
I don’t know what to do.

6 months isn’t unrealistic…
I know personally my Maggie dress has taken about 7 months – I ordered it in early August (2009) and it won’t be in until mid-May. I think it all depends on where you are going – and be upfront to the saleperson @ the bridal store and let them knowwhat your time frame is.
Good Luck – better to be happy and feel beautiful on your day :o)

I think you should have enough time to find a new dress. You may have to rush order it. Which dress did you get? What are you looking for in a dress?
I am a Maggie bride too and it took about 2 months for my dress to come in.

I think your best bet would be to try on dresses and once you find a dress you love, order it from a company online.
It is my understanding that most bridal stores don’t send in orders until they have a group of them. So your dress order might not be called into the company until like a month after you actually ordered it at the store. A lot of online companies send in your order right after you place it with them.
Your other two options are to buy a sample dress or pay the expedited costs to get your dress to you sooner.
Best of luck!

Yes you definitely have time!
I planned my whole wedding in 3 months, and so i bought my dress roughly 2 months beforehand. I got it off the rack – so more discount! My seamstress was able to fit me in for 4 appointments in 2 months – all was well!
Don’t worry – you will find something.

No Worries Dollface,
You have plenty of time. You WILL find the one you love, and you deserve to have it! I ordered my dress online and it came that week and my alterations lady doesn’t even want to see my “changing bride body” for the fitting until 6 weeks before the wedding. So- I think everything is going to work out for you!
