My wedding is in 17 days. I am breaking out more than usual. I tend to have a pimple or two the week before my period, but lately it’s been non stop. Usually i get them along my chin and jaw area. Now I even have one on my left cheek! Typically the breakouts are on my right side, and jaw/chin area as mentioned. Man oh man!
Here is my typical regimen: I wash my face with the Acne Free 3 step system- and I have for a few years now. I use the cleanser in the shower, then do the toner and lotion afterwards. I previously used to only use it once a day and was clear, clear, clear. Now, I’ve moved to Florida, and I use it twice a day (some days I forget though, and only do once. I am trying to do much better..) I’ve had a crazy time ever since I moved here. I started breaking shortly after moving here, then began using Cetaphil moisturizer, and my skin became pretty clear, except the week before T.O.M. usual breakout. It is extremely humid here and I guess I just don’t know how to handle it. I just stopped using the Cetaphil moisturizer thinking it made my skin too moist with the humid air, so now I am just using the 3 step Acne Free kit. I just realized this may be bad too, because if my skin becomes dry then it will overcompensate and create more oil. I am so confused on what I need to do!!
I have this terrible issue of popping the suckers which makes them look worse.. but if they come to a head, what am I supposed to do with it?
I do not feel particularly stressed.. but I am going to try an anti-anxiety regimen to see if it helps. I already drink lots of water but I will try and drink more. I am going to begin taking a multivitamin (I should have long ago!) I am going to begin tanning (I know it isn’t necessarily good, but I need some color for my wedding. It’s been so rainy here!) I also have read that tanning sometimes helps with acne. I also bought a Zeno Hotspot to try for any new ones that may pop up. We will see if the thing even works.. the reviews looked good overall.
I was thinking to try a mask. But, I am not sure my skin can handle it. With my wedding being so close I don’t want to many anything worse. I know there are lots of different types so I don’t know where to begin. We do not have a Body Shop or Sephora around here and I don’t have enough time to order something online.
Any suggestions or recommendations or thoughts on what I am going to begin doing? Thank you!!!!!!!

Try getting a lotion with Salysilic Acid for your trouble areas – make sure you exfoliate too! I would avoid a mask, you probably don’t need it. If you can, maybe try an acne facial at a local day spa to to try remove some dead skin and do extractions for you? Definitely try to eat fruits and veggies and add the multivitamin and more water to your diet! I can actually clear up if I cut down on carbs sometimes too. Also, cardio helps! Just make sure you clean your skin afterwards! If you go to a gym that has a sauna, that could also help a bit!
I struggle with the same issues! Good luck!!

It’s stress! I’m going through the same exact thing! I’ve tried so many things and I finally found something. It’s by Neutrogena. It’s called Spot-On. It works WOONDERS! But, it does dry out my skin so I have to moisturize. Hope this helps.

Thanks! I did try exfoliating. I have an exfoliator I bought after much research. It’s called derma e AHA Alpha Hydroxy Acids Beauty Fluid.
It is one that says to leave it on overnight. Do you think that’s bad? Or is that how exfoliators are?
Do you think I should add that regularly to my regimen? I cannot say I have used it regularly. I’ve only used it twice and I’ve had it for a few months. Maybe I should wash it off after a little while? I feel like leaving it on overnight will block/clog pores…
Cutting out carbs would be so hard!! I also read that dairy can cause/contribute to acne??

I’ve never had luck with Neutrogena. Whenever I’ve tried any cleanser of theirs I break out more! Is that a cleanser?
I just quickly looked at some reviews and tons of people say it works. I might have to check it out even though Neutrogena has never been great for me!
Oh, and I would like to add that my skin looks great aside from the pimples! Everyone tells me how nice of skin I have. I don’t understand why because I have pimples and spots from ones that have gone away prior to the new ones.. all along my darn chin!

Same thing happened to me, I got rid of everything by doing this:
1. No make up until the day of the wedding.
2. Washed face twice a day using the Neutrogena facial bar (unscented)
3. Salicylic Acid, in the morning. I used Clean and Clear invisible blemish treatment
4. Benzoyl Peroxide at night – I went through 1 tube a week. I loaded up on the stuff. Looks gross, but works great! I used Equate Acne gel. It’s gritty, but cheaper than the brand name stuff and works the same.
4. Moisturizer as needed.
5. Exfoliated once a week using St. Ives Apricot scrub
6. Drink a ton of water and take a multivitamin with food.
I didn’t have a single zit on the day of my wedding, just a mosquito bite on my cheek
Hope this helps!

If I were you I would go to the dermatologist and see if they can give you something to helo clear it up. It’s probably all the stress. Try to relaxe. When I get breakouts, I put rubbing alcohol on them and they dry up pretty quick.

Did you put the benzoyl peroxide on your entire face? And do I buy Salycilic acid or a product in it? Also in my experience, Clean & Clear products, along with the Neutrogena products…

I put the benzoyl peroxide all over. I haven’t had anything on my forehead in 10 years, I wasn’t going to risk having one pop up.
Salicylic Acid is an active ingredient. 2% is the max in most products. I’ve used the Clean and Clear brand of it on and off for a while. I’ve never looked at other stuff… If you have a brand that you prefer to use, go for it.
Purpose gentle wash is what I’m using now. I prefer liquid cleansers. I have no complaints.

I would stop using the overnight exfoliant and use a scrub in the shower – I can’t use the apricot scrub, but I hear it’s great. I use philosophy –The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash – it’s about $25 from Sephora and it’s sulfate free (I’m allergic) and gentle enough for everyday use!
I tend to over-dry out when using lots of acids and the benzoyls – so I try to use less of that, use Aveeno salycilic lotion and their gentle cleanser and exfoliate more and spot treat overnight instead of popping. If you can avoid makeup, do it! If you can eat healthier and exercise, do that too! The latter will at least make you feel a lot better if it doesn’t clear everything up completely!

Alright Bees! I am giving Neutrogena Rapid Clear 7 Day Intervention a try. I also bought their Rapid Clear Foaming Scrub and Rapid Clear Acne Eliminating Spot Gel. I had bought the last two on my trip to the store on my way home from work. When I got home I looked up this 7 day intervention thing and decided to give it a try. What sold me on that was that it helps reduce the existing acne scars (supposedly). All of these products have 2% Salicylic Acid as the active ingredient. I will only use the 7 day kit at first and then use the other cleanser afterwards.
I am more worried about the short term right now so this 7 day kit sounded worth a shot. If it works, I might just buy another one to use the week of the wedding too!
I am also beginning to take a 50mg zinc tablet, multivitamin (only has an additional 11mg zinc), and trying to de-stress. I will also begin tanning sessions this week. Hopefully SOMETHING works!

If those pesty pimples are still there the week of you should go to a health food store or anywhere that sells essential oil. Get a bottle of 100% tea tree oil. This essential oil naturally kills bacteria (which is what clogs your pores and causes white heads!). Many acne products have tea tree oil in them, but this concentrated version works wonders for a quick fix! Just be careful not to use it every day because it can dry skin out big time with over use. Apply directly on to pimple and it will be half the size if not almost gone the next day!
Another solution to pimples that have broken and won’t heal is the essential oil Lavender. It’s often used for calming or sleep, but what many people don’t know is that this oil helps to speed your body’s natural healing process. It works wonderful on cuts, rashes, and burns (which means its a pimple’s worst nightmare).
Play around with a combination of tea tree oil first and then lavender oil after. You’ll find that because these oils are natural they won’t clog your pores. I have really problem skin and couldn’t find a solution until I tried this natural route. Each of these bottles is about $12-17 each and should last you a long time as you only need one or two drops each application! Give it a try!
P.S. If you do give these a try remember not to apply or wear under makeup as the essential oils often draw cosmetics into your pores. Best use is at night before bed with a clean face.
