I’ve never gotten anyone a gift after they’ve broken up with their SO. Does she like any movies or TV shows? Maybe get her a DVD set of something?

What a sweet friend you are! I’d go out and buy every celebrity gossip magazine to send to her! Maybe a little care package with that, some sappy chick flicks that she can have a good cry with and a box of tissues and twinkies? Hahah…just some comfort living stuff!

During a breakup for me, my sisters made me a CD of cheesy girly songs (either boy-hate or single-fun) – like Stronger, Christina Aquilera stuff, A Toast to Men – Willa Ford, Goodbye to You by Patty Smyth. It was amazing, and made me cry and smile at the same time…Also, a bottle of wine, a good chick lit book, and magazines.

I’d send a “breakup cliche” basket. Chocolate, tissues, anything by Alannis Morrisette lol. But only if it would make her laugh!

I was only half joking. 🙂  Get her all the things that she doesn’t need a man for.  A pocket screwdriver, a tire pressure gauge, gift certificate for a massage…  There’s lots of good break-up songs that you could make an old-school mix-tape of, too.

This isn’t goofy, but maybe include something that she is good at… like if she used to do yoga or dance before she was in that relationship, or go to theatre or something, include tickets or class passes or a groupon or something that helps her reconnect with herSELF.

Also a bright lipstick, might make her feel fresh and sexy. 🙂

When my longtime boyfriend came out (looooooong story) my friend sent me a book called “boys are stupid, throw rocks at them”.  Not super useful but funny and sometimes I pull it out and make a show of giving it a read when my husband annoys me too :p
