I was wondering how many of you lovely ladies would be making/buying your bridal bouquets, and if it mattered to you whether they were real or fake flowers…
I made my own bouquet and I loved the way it turned out, but when I tell some people about it I sometimes get the “Oh you’re not using fresh flowers for your bouquet???” So now i’m doubting whether I should use my bouquet or have one made with fresh flowers.
Does it matter?? What do you all think?? I made my own because I wanted something I could keep forever, and I would feel terrible letting fresh flowers die and not be able to keep my bouquet.
Here are some pics of my bouquet:

I’ll be doing real touch calla lilies. My mom thought I was nuts but flowers just don’t matter to me. Also the real touch ones are actually pretty amazing.

Your bouquet is gorgeous!!! Don’t listen to anyone who says you HAVE to have real flowers.

Your bouquet is gorgeous! I love those brooches.

I was going to DIY real flowers for everything a few days before the wedding (incl. centerpieces), then I realized that was going to be a logistical nightmare and still kind of expensive. I ordered silk and haven’t looked back. I am super happy with them.
Here’s a really rough pic of mine (and sideways because I am on my phone…). I like them a lot. Flowers were an area I was willing to scrimp in so I could splurge elsewhere.

I prefer fresh flowers but I really like your bouquet.

I think yours is beautiful. You should definitely do what you feel. I’m having both so I can have one to keep – minus the porton that I toss away somehow.

yours is really pretty!! you really did a great job. i love the pearl accents.
but if its in your budget i vote for fresh flowers…. because when else can you run around with a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers?? 🙂

I prefer fresh flowers personally, and will press and preserve my bouquet after. That’s how brides used to do it in the olden days, just after the Earth cooled. 😉

honestly, I will be doing fake flowers as well for that same reason. ya you can press and preserve your bouquet but it will never look as good as it did on your wedding day all dried up. I want to get the box picture frame (I forgot what its called) and put my veil, bouquet, cake topper, garter (i will have 2), and a picture of us in it. I am so excited to keep that special memory picture box to display in my bedroom more than choosing to have real flowers that 1. cost way more than it should and 2. die right after the special day. your bouquet is gorgeous! I wouldnt change it just becuase someone else doesnt like it. its not their wedding, they can do what they want on their big day and shut up for yours.

@anothersmith: I must agree that I love love love fresh flowers and will have them for mine. But your silk flowers are great especially if you don’t skimping on the flowers dept for something else you might want to slurge on.

Your bouquet is beautiful!

Personally, I prefer fresh flowers. I like the smell, the way they look and feel etc. Low quality fake flowers are ugly (to me) and high quality ones cost as much or more than real flowers… I quite like paper flowers (which don’t pretend to look like real flowers) or brooch bouquets though.
THAT SAID AND DONE, it is YOUR wedding and don’t care what people think! Choose what YOU like and not what other people think you should have:)

@Gigi03: That is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I considered doing fake flowers for my big day (I made a fake throwaway bouquet) but ultimately decided that its my one big day to have a big beautiful real bouquet.
Sounds silly… but for prom my date got me a fake corsage and I was a little sad.
HOWEVER! Your bouquet is simply stunning and I think that if thats what you love and want to do, DO IT!
