@Floridian Belle:  I have one my mom got me… She didn’t spend much on it really. I go on cruises with a lot of formal nights so i will reuse it… It’s silver and think I can use it again. I am using it to put lipstick, powder, deodorant, blotting cloths…. I will wear off lipstick after an hour or 2…. I tend to do that so I want my clutch for those bathroom trips to refresh everything!

This is mine…..I love it and mine is most def serving a purpose that day!

I always have with me some form of ID wherever I go… On my wedding day, where is my ID going to go? I simply cannot spend a whole day without my ID by my side, in case a tragedy happens, medical insurance card, hospital card, driver’s licence etc… What a dilemna! I have thought of putting my ID in a little plastic enclosure and putting it in my panties…

Mine had my ID, credit cards (who else was paying for that shindig?  just me!), some cash (mom taught me to never leave home without a $20, so I had $400 – mostly for tips), lipstick, my phone (wasn’t answering it!), and the car keys since I had to park it at the hotel earlier in the day.

It is also of course a fashion statement – I’m obsessed with a particular brand of handbag (not what you’d think) and they finally came out with a bridal line so I had.to.have.it.

My bridal “clutch” was a shopping bag stowed away with my wedding planner and contained various things I might need throughout the day. I personally didn’t see any purpose in having a purse for the day.

It’s for holding any money ppl give to you… We did the money dance and I put the money into my bag, also my cell phone

You are SOOOO wise to ask this question!! 🙂

I really wanted one and thought I needed one.  However, for all of the reasons you noted, I did NOT want an actual clutch, because I figured my hands would be full during the hors d’oeuvres hour and at all other points in the evening, so I talked myself into this FABULOUS, incredibly sparkly, ridiculously expensive (it was $400, and I still paid $240 on sale !!) Badgley Mischka evening bag that I thought would look amazing hanging from my wrist while I held a small plate of hors d’oeuvres. (The joke certainly was on me, however, because I didn’t even get to attend my hors d’oeuvres hour, and we spent most of the reception taking pics that we did not get before the ceremony, so I didn’t need a purse then, either.)

I have some great pics of it, and the venue’s staff put it on a table behind me at the reception, but I’m sure few, if any, people even noticed it.  I like being able to post it here, so that some of the bees can help me appreciate it, even if they, like I, question my sanity for having purchased it in the first place! LOL

By the way, I justified the price, because I figured I could carry it to all kinds of special occasions in the future. Unfortunately, the problem with that logic is that I am very unlikely to be wearing ivory to many future occasions, and certainly not to any upcoming weddings. 🙂

I had a small purse with me.  I wanted one because we were doing First Look pictures (just me and my husband) at the venue before everyone else got there, so I needed to be able to carry some stuff since no one else was there.  I had my ID, some cash, 1 credit card (in case of emergency), my hotel room key, lipstick, advil, allergy meds (springtime outdoors), a granola bar, and my cell phone.  I was really happy I had it for before the ceremony and then right before the ceremony started I had one of my bridesmaids throw it and my flats under our sweetheart table.

I will have one. There’s a few things I MUST ALWAYS have with me: Chapstick, mints/gum, powder, and aspirin/Tylenol/excedrin/whatever. I probably also carry extra makeup in case of crying, and hairspray.

@Floridian Belle: Please don’t mock me if this sounds like a dumb question to you.

No, it’s a brilliant question which I myself have been wanting to ask. Wink

As I start to tie up loose ends, I’ve been trying to figure out whether I need a clutch. I was thinking I should have a place to stash some lipstick or whatever, but I can’t imagine actually carrying a purse of whatever kind. And I can’t think of any bride at a wedding I’ve been to who has had one (that I saw). So thanks for posting this!

I had a whole hodgepodge of things in mine. I had a Maid/Matron of Honor drop it off at my seat at the reception when we got to the venue and then I took it with me when we left. Didn’t really need it but it was there. It’s in my hands as we’re leaving…

And I used it in my bridals…

After reading this thread, I don’t think a clutch will be that important to me. There definitely ways where my money can be better spent. Anyway, I already have a somewhat-bridal looking wristlet that matches my shoes! And I can just put my Maid/Matron of Honor in charge of that 🙂 I’m pretty glad I didn’t spend $20 on the clutch I was eyeing online today, even if it was only $20!

I would like to have some comfort things near, breath mints, dry perfume, tissues.  I never would have bought a clutch for myself.  I never carry a small bag.  My “purse” is actually a small piece of luggage, so bigger than any purse out there lol.

Anyway, my mom gave me a small beaded bag and said she thought I might like it for the wedding.  So i’m gonna bring it along.  I very much appreciate the gesture!
