Hi All! Does anyone know of great local bridal salons or bridal stores where I can find affordable gowns (like Maggie Sottero, Casablanca, Alfred Angelo, etc.) in New York City? I really love the Maggie Sottero gowns so I would so appreciate it if anyone could give feedback on where in NYC I could go on my dress hunt. I also have an appointment at David’s Bridal this coming Saturday.
Alternatively, if anyone knows of good places to order dresses online that is reputable and will come in time and then how I can get the dress tailored to me, I would love to hear it! Any great wedding tailors would be very appreciated as well.
Many thanks in advance!!

You should go to RK Bridal. I believe it’s on West 39th Street. They have Maggie, Casablanca, AA and so many more! Plus their prices are reasonable. It isn’t the most elegant place to buy your dress, but they have tons of options and their prices are SO reasonable (I found my dress for half the price its being sold online).
Just make sure to get there as soon as it opens on the weekends – it becomes a madhouse!

Thank you! Did you get your alterations through them too?

I would also try Bridal Gardens, which sells gowns at discounted prices. They don’t provide tailoring services there but they recommend tailors.
You should try nymag.com, too, for a listing of bridal salons.

I love Bridal Garden! bridalgarden.org
It’s on the same block (or the next one) as Kleinfelds, but its in a building, up an elevator, behind an unmarked door. It’s tiny, but it’s packed full of amazing donated once worn gowns and samples. Some of them need some love, but I got a $7000 Anne Barge french lace gown for $1900. The girl next to me bought a gown for $300- so they have all budgets covered. The money you spend goes to charity- they are currently giving to a charter school in Brooklyn. So you’re both being green and helping the community!
I recommend shopping at other salons first- get an idea of what shape and fabric you like best and experience the pampering and attention you get at a regular bridal salon. Then you’ll know what you’re looking for and you won’t feel like you missed out on the traditional experience. Call and see if they’re getting new ones in and make an appt. for a weekday if you can.

Rk bridal has really nice gowns at good deals. I bought my gown there along with the bridemaid gowns. I received so many compliments. As for tailoring – you should really check out Maria Cleaners & Tailoring in Staten Island. Maria is an expert with the gowns and known around the new york area. They are all Italian Seamstresses with such great craftsmanship. Definitely worth the trip to Staten Island.
