Honestly, when I think about gloves worn for any other reason than staying warm – I think this:

And that is not the wedding look I’m going for. ๐Ÿ™‚

@Bunny_the_Bride: Really, I though they had to come out during the reception? Especially if there’s a camera pointed in your direction!

Oh, and let’s not forget about “I’m being quirky with my bridesmaids, so we’re all doing it!”. ๐Ÿ˜€

No but seriously, I think gloves are cute when I see them on old wedding photos. So from the 50’s & 60’s, but I would be very surprised to see them on a modern bride.

@Bunny_the_Bride:  I am! I am planning on wearing black lace gloves for my getaway/send off outfit. They’ll look something like this:

My younger sis thinks it’s creepy. So, I am not offended (or deterred) by naysayers. ๐Ÿ˜€

@MlleFabuleux:  I think that a send off outfit with lace gloves would be cute, but with a wedding dress….no it’s just old fashioned IMO

When I was engaged the first time (to my former FI; I broke that engagement and canceled that wedding), I bought beautiful, short, white, mesh/knit gloves that sparkled.  However, by the time I finally met and married my DH (17 years later), I did not wear them or the dress that I had purchased back then.

I thought about it, as I’m having a 1940’s themed wedding, but I couldn’t find any I liked so I’m not wearing any. I think the look can be really pretty.

My Maid/Matron of Honor wore elbow length silk gloves with her wedding dress, and looked stunning. But in general she looks like she stepped out of another decade, it would’ve looked ridiculous on me, probably.
