I’m getting married 08.16.08 and have yet to start shopping for my wedding gown. I have one dress in mind, but won’t know for sure if I love it until I try it on. My budget is $700, but less is always a plus. I’ve been rummaging through the boards/blogs to find bridal salon recommendations here in the bay area, but thought I’d just put it out there. I plan on going to Trudy’s in the south bay and Bridal Image in SF (appts are set). Where would you recommend going?

I’m not sure if/where they’re available to try on, but I love the Nordstrom wedding dresses, especially this one (which may have just sold out):

i ordered mine from Trudy’s… if your’e going on a weekend – bring your patience – it’s nuts in there!
go next door to their bridesmaid selections and see if yuo can find a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress in white – you could save some $$ going that route also…

J Crew has some nice dresses online (I have never seen them in person though)
This one is only $225. It’s really pretty if you are into simple gowns!
this one is nice too!

Hi gals, well you won’t believe it, but I did go to Trudy’s and did find a dress less than $700 that I’m happy with. I’m still doing my shopping, but this may be the one. (it’s a Mon Cheri gown)

Trudy’s is great. I recommend trying to go on a weekday, though. Also, depending on the style you are looking for, consider looking into the more formal bridesmaid gowns in white/ivory, etc… 🙂 You will find many under $500 including designer ones. For the bridesmaid dress route, check out Bella Bridesmaid in San Francisco off Van Ness and Union.

Oooh! I really like that Nordstrom one. Unique and modern. It really depends what you are looking for. Do your shopping though, I bought one gown, thinking I wanted something super simple and then regretted it bc it was just too plain. Then I couldn’t stand it anymore and went shopping again and bought a dress from David’s. I love it. Simple but elegant.
I know, I know, people have had nightmare experiences there, but the gal who helped me was super helpful. She was fast and nice! I did go in with an idea of what I wanted and she pulled other similar styles for me.
I went on a Monday night at 6PM so it was pretty empty!

I also got my dress at DB…it all depends on who you have to help you. I love the girl who helped me pick out my dress, but the other girls who work there just drive me crazy and upset me. Definitely go at an off time if you go there.
