I bought my gown at Destiny’s in Scottsdale, and I HIGHLY recommend it. The ladies there were so nice and helpful. I had gone to another shop in Boston, and the lady there told me that I was too busty to wear most of their dresses, and would only let me stick my arms through the arm holes and hold it up.

Although I did not buy my dress there, I would highly recommend Uptown Bridal in Downtown Chandler.  The ladies at the store were awesome!  Everyone was super helpful and polite.  They gave you this Spanx tube dress to wear while trying on dresses and you could photograph everything!!!!!  When I left the store I was given a list of my top choices (including brand, style, and price) to take with me.  The only reason I did not buy a dress here was because I wanted something without any embellishments (no beads, no lace, no rhinestones, etc.) and they only had one dress that met this criteria (and it was a bridesmaids dress).

I will second that Suzanne’s is a very nice salon with friendly sales people.  They have a great selection (tons of dress, wide variety) and you can try on as many as you want.  Also, they let you take pictures.  My only issue with this store is that no one helped me get into the dresses.  I had to practically beg the salesperson to clip me into the dresses (most of the time my Bridesmaid or Best Man had to do it for me).  I also met Suzanne while I was there and she was very nice.

I would recommend avoiding I Do! I Do! Bridal in Phoenix.  They subscribe to all the bridal shop tactics that you hear about…no photos, no knowing designers or styles, and no tags.  The sales women were very professional, but not very personable or helpful (in terms of suggesting styles, etc.).  They basically clip you in, clip you out, kinda like an assembly line.  I found the dress I wanted here, but ended up buying it at another bridal salon (not in AZ) because the customer service was so much better (of course they did not tell me what it was, but luckily I sketched a picture of it as I left the store and then used preownedweddingdresses.com to determine what it was).  The one good think I can say about I Do! is that they price their dresses competively.  I paid $50 more for my dress at the salon I purchased it from (after getting a 15% discount for buying my dress on my first visit), however that money is worth the MUCH BETTER customer service.

I heard terrible things about Azteca too!  The only reason I went to I Do! is because they were the only ones who carried Pronovias/La Sposa (besides Azteca).  I guess you could say that I picked my poison.  At least I Do! gave you a metal clothing rack to hang your selections on, and the salesperson wheeled them to the dressing area.  That is awful that you had to carry everything at Azteca.

this is a great thread!

@AzinAugust & jordynrose: what do you think the average price points are for suzanne’s and uptown bridal? or do they have pretty broad ranges? i’m looking to stay under $1k for my dress. do these two boutiques have dresses in my price range or is my budget too small, lol?

@future.mrs.v: I would recommend Suzanne’s if you want to keep your dress under $1K.  Uptown Bridal seemed to range between $1,200 to $5,000(?).  They also have full length bridesmaid dresses that come in white that run under $1,000.  I tried these on because I wanted a simpler (i.e. less embellished dress) than what they carried in bridal, but none of them worked for me…they were TOO simple.  Suzanne’s seemed to range between $750(?) to $2-3K (?). They also had several sample dresses to choose from.  Keep in mind, these numbers are based on what I tried on, so they may be off.  I would just give them a call and ask, both shops have very nice and accomodating staff.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for bridal shops?  I live in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area and don’t really want to go all the way to Gilbert or Chandler.  I was planning on going to I Do and Azteca…but now I’m starting to rethink it.  My budget for my dress is $1000 and under…are there any shops that give good service and have dresses in my price range that anyone suggests?  Thank you!

I just had to de-lurk to put in my two cents.  I LOVE Suzanne’s Bridal!  I live in NE Phoenix and was unsure about having to go all the way down to Gilbert, but I have to say it was totally worth the trip.  I found my dress there and their prices and service were just amazing.  I had the typical bad experiences at I do! I do! and Azteca, but Suzanne’s was just awesome!

I ventured alone to Suzanne’s Bridal for my very first gown shopping experience last month. My heart was racing upon arrival but it was quickly put at ease thanks to the lovely sales associate that helped me out. The store was bumpin’ due to a trunk show that was taking place, but I was given plenty of time. It was quite odd being there all on my lonesome but she did an absolutely AMAZING job making me feel like I wasn’t. She helped me in & out of every dress & even held up my iPhone to take some pics of me. I couldn’t have asked for a better FIRST time shopping experience. My wedding isn’t until April 2011, so I held off on purchasing anything that day. I wanted to give myself a chance to browse around other boutiques – but it’s gonna be tough to beat my Suzanne’s experience.
