- Wedding: May 2010
This is a story of a lesson that was learned the hard way. I’m not a writer and have never done a blog, but I would never want ANY bride going through I’m having to pursue 2 months before our wedding.
Everything was going GREAT. It is 2 months before our wedding, I had sent out the invitations, got all my wedding favors completed, decorations completed for the ceremony and reception, programs completed….almost EVERYTHING done!!! I was movin’ right along and couldn’t wait for our day to get here.
My fiance and I had booked our venue May 2009. My fiance is a TRUE engineer, which equals a huge researcher. We had found a couple venues and finally chose one that had all the things we were wanting. A ceremony outside, close to downtown, by the river and ceremony and reception in the same place since 99% of our guest will be from out of town. Best of all, this venue/caterer took care of everything besides flowers, DJ, and photography. They had an A- rating on the BBB and good reviews. We are paying for our own wedding so once we booked, we started making payments so we wouldn’t have such a HUGE bill to pay right before our wedding.
I started having trouble getting a hold of this company in the middle of January and throughout February 2010. I would call and send emails but I never received any response back from our venue. Finally in March I called again and all the numbers I had were disconnected and their phones “were no longer in service”. I called about 5 people before finally getting a hold someone that could help me and tell me what was going on and that is when I found out that Extreme Events (Our company) ran away with ALL of our money, yes; THOUSANDS of dollars!!!
So now two months before our wedding, our wedding budget has DOUBLED!!!! We had to find a new venue, caterer, bar service, new decorations, new programs….A LOT has changed. Plus, now on top of planning a “new” wedding two months before, we are having to take legal action. Can you say…”STRESSED”!!!!
Last week, a family friend mentioned to me something about Bridal Insurance. I had NO IDEA about this insurance. It will covers SO many things and for a reasonable price. I wish I would have known about this prior.
This is my wish! I hope some of you will read this and at least look into wedding insurance. I know or at least hope this doesn’t happen to many brides, but this would have been SO helpful and we would have DEFINITELY purchased the insurance. PLEASE to ALL newly engaged brides, look into wedding insurance!!!!!!!
