I paid $165 for airbrush makeup, plus $25 for individual false lashes, plus extra to buy the lipgloss/lip liner/blotting powder–total just for me was over $200.  Bridesmaids were $85/person + $25 for lashes. This was also the metro-NYC area and a professional who works with celebrities and for NBC. Oh, and I paid $100 “assistant fee” on top of that.

…sooo whether that quote is too high depends on 1. where you are, 2. who you’re using, 3. what is included in the price. For what it’s worth (ha!), I felt every penny was worth it when I saw the finished product.

I’ve been researching makeup places too, and I can’t believe how expensive it is!!!  The low end was $125!   What are they painting my face with, anyway?!!!!

That does sound typical. If you don’t like the price, though, keep looking. The MUA I went with charged only $70 for my makeup and $50 per person for the other ladies. I also incurred travel charges since she came to us, and brought an assistant, etc. But anyway, just know that you can keep looking and you might find someone you really like for a different price.

I’m getting married in Baltimore and I believe the price quote for $55 for makeup and $65 for bridal hair…I know it would have been more if I had my wedding up here in the NYC area…but it looks like you’re in Maryland so that just sounds absurd!

This is a serious question: What do the MUAs do that is special/different?  Is there an actual reason to pay to have your makeup done? Seriously.  I don’t know anything about this.

Mine was $65, but I went to my hair salon (Grapevine.) Katie did a fantastic job.

@PGsHotBride:  I’m a bit incompetent when it comes to putting on makeup, so it was WELL worth it. No way could I have blended my foundation as well as she did. If you know how to do makeup, you might not need it.

@LadyLewis12:  If she is coming to you, that’s not so bad. My quotes were way higher, so we went to a salon instead.

@PGsHotBride:  I’m good at doing my makeup, but a professional can make sure it will last all day through the sweat and the activity and can make sure it photographs flawlessly.

Thanks! I’ve been wondering about that.
