- Wedding: October 2011
I still have a little over a year until the big day but I have already begun obsessing over our bridal party gifts. I have been on the receiving end of some great Bridal Party gifts and some.. well.. horrible ones.
I was in a wedding a few years ago where we were given free (and by free, I mean the bride got them for free and was sure to tell us all about it) jewelry. She also told us that half the gift didnt come in in-time so we would “get it later”. Yea, “later” never came. The pieces that we did get fell apart while wearing them at the wedding.
FI’s is even better. He was the Bridesmaid or Best Man in his brothers wedding last year. The groom (who is now my FI’s BM) got his guys flasks and liquor (could he have been any more predictable?). Now, Fiance is not a drinker. On occasion he’ll have a beer or a glass of wine but he would never in a million years have a use for a personalized flask. When Future Brother-In-Law handed him his gift, he said “You’re not going to like this.”. WHAT?? Why would you give someone a gift you know their going to hate?
That was just crazy to me so I wanted to come up with something that our Bridal Party would all love. Fiance is probably one of the techiest people on the planet so originally I wanted to go that route. Everyone already has an ipod so that wouldnt work. We thought about going with flip cams but they were too expensive (and we have a husband and wife in our Bridal Party so giving them each a flip cam is kind of ridiculous). So it was back to the drawing board…
A while back I came across a site called Nike ID. Basically you can design your own pair of Nikes (hundreds of styles to choose from). You can even customize it with names and significant numbers and all that jazz. I thought about designing Fiance a pair for his birthday but time got away from me (i think theres like a 6 week production time).
I revisited that site today and got to thinking that these would make an awesome Bridal Party gift. The attire is already casual for the guys (khakis, white button down, navy blazer) so I thought a pair of navy blue and white personalized Nikes would be awesome for them to wear for the wedding (keep it casual). I wanted to get everyone the same thing so I ventured over to the women’s section and sadly found nothing that I liked. I decided to check out pumas site since I’ve always loved their sneaks. I found the PERFECT pair for the girls! Our colors are navy blue and pink and the girls dresses are navy tea length. I thought that the sneakers would be perfect for them during the reception.
I think they will be a big hit. I mean, who doesn’t like sneakers? Talk about giving a useful gift!
Oh yea, I totally plan on sharpie-ing over FI’s name on the flask with FBIL’s name then re-gifting it to him as his Bridal Party gift at our wedding (as a gag of course). The flask has literally not moved from the gift bag it came in. Thanks for the paper weight!
Anyways, sorry I got a little carried away with the flask thing, it just annoys me.
What do you think? Think everyone will like the sneaks?
