I’d rather get the pants. I don’t really like robes, and I’d probably never wear a monogrammed robe again after the wedding.

Neither.  You mentioned these as gifts – are these the thank you gift?  If so, anything for your wedding isn’t a gift.  I honestly don’t understand everyone having to match for “getting ready” pictures.  Why can’t they just wear whatever?

I agree with molokoa. I might wear the pants again but I’m not going to wear a robe. I probably won’t even wear one for getting ready.

I think yoga capris and some kind of linen or cotton button-down shirt would be a cute alternative to the robes. That way the button-down would make it easy to change without messing up their hair (whether youre planning on having them done or not) and everyone would match for the pictures!

I totally agree the robes are super cute for photos, but I’d never wear it again since I don’t wear one now…

I’m with hermom.  If you are requiring that they wear them for “getting ready” pictures then they really aren’t a gift.  And honestly, you and these women are all adults.  Cutsey outfits to get ready in are not going to make your pictures that much better.  What matters in these pictures are all your smiling faces, not the clothes they are wearing.

So unless you all always wear the same thing to get ready for an event in, then I don’t get why your wedding day needs to be any different.

Just because they’re also for pictures doesn’t mean your bridesmaids won’t wear them again and they won’t appreciate them. They’re sweats. They’ll wear them.

I say sweatpants! They’ll be cute and comfortable.

I did both, a capri sweat pant and a robe, both from VS and not monogrammed. It is kind of a running joke in my circle that I am always in my robe and sweats.  It seemed fitting to “share the love” (I work at home so yes, I am usually in my robe or sweat!!).  I also added in a button down shirt to wear when getting their hair done. I am not requiring they wear any of this day of though. I just thought it was fun.  BTW, the robes are not matching, each girl got a different color I thought they would like.

Depends on the weather and climate where you are. Where I am, you get two weeks out of the year where you would be okay wearing a robe around the house. If I lived somewhere where it was warm and had an actual summer, hell yeah i’ll take the robes.

Monogramed anything will never be used again.  waste of money and a gift.  Get them something they will use.

When you say monogramed, do you mean with their names? initials? the word “bridesmaid?” Either way, I’d personally like either one WITHOUT the monogram. I’d never wear anything like that again if it had my name or something like that on there. Sorry but I think walking around wtih pants with a word on the butt or whatever are kind of tacky and childish. Now, plain yoga pants or a nice plain robe? That I could use again and again!

Elle_bee:  I keep seeing this but I don’t understand it. Why would something that’s monogrammed never be used again?

ucsadie:  FWIW, I went with robes because sweats would have been silly for a June wedding.  I wear my robe literally everyday and I know my girls do too.  Even the ones that already had robes.  I made sure not to put bridesmaid or anything on them other than their own monogram on the front left.
