I just booked my hair & make-up trial for my wedding this August (trial isn’t until July). The woman who will be doing my hair & makeup has assured me that she can handle my size group (assuming everyone wants to get hair & make-up done, it’ll be 10 of us – me, 1 Maid/Matron of Honor, 6 BMs, 1 MOB, 1 MOG). She’ll arrive at our hotel with one other person, and I believe they both do hair, but she is the only one to do make-up (I think – need to clarify this).
Having said all of this, how long do you think this will all take to get done? Our ceremony is at 6:00PM and we’re still undecided on a first look. The hotel we’ll be getting ready at is only about 15 minutes from the venue. I’d hate to tell everyone they have to start hair & make-up at like 7:00AM, but I’m a little nervous since it’s just the two people coming to get everyone pretty!
Has anyone dealt with a similar sized wedding party getting their hair & make-up done with a small(ish) team of pros? Any advice/feedback is appreciated!

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
1 hour each for your hair and make-up, 45 minutes per sercive for everyone else.
So bride hair and make-up= 2 hours
9 maids and moms hair and make-up = 13.5 hours
TOTAL hair and make-up labor hours = 15.5 hours, or roughly 8 hours of having the duo on-site
Ceremony is at 6pm. You should arrive at the church at least 20 minutes early (1 hour early if you plan to change into your dress at the church). Church is 15 minutes from getting ready spot (so allow at least 25 minutes total to corral everyone, figure out that you forgot something and turn back to get it, etc.). That means you are leaving your getting ready spot at 5:15. You will at least do your individual bridal portraits before the ceremony, so allow 20 minutes for those. And allow 40ish minutes for getting your dress on, finding your misplaced earring, yada yada yada. That means you, the bride, must be ready by 4:15. If you want photos of your maids totally done when they are helping you into your dress, they will need to be done by 3:50 to allow them time to get into their own dresses.
In order to meet this timeline, your duo would need to start at 8am. You can make a schedule so that each girl knows when she needs to be available and you don’t have tons of people just hanging around, waiting.
Since you have a large wedding party, if you wanted to do a first look and wedding party photos ahead of time, you would need to start even earlier. Back the timeline up by 30 minutes for a first look and couples portraits prior to the ceremony. And back it up another 35-45 minutes of you are doing bridal party photos prior to the ceremony.
