Bridal party standing or sitting during ceremony?

They stood at the altar with us

They sat in the first row

We had a different set up (explain in thread please!)

Ours sat in the seat by the aisle of the first four rows – girls on one side and guys on the other.

I find it weird when they stay standing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in real life. Most often I see them sit in the front row.

When I was a bridesmaid we sat in the 2nd row back behind the parents, best man and maid of honour.

bluejaybride :  depends on the length of the ceremony.

Ours will be a secular ceremony and those are like ten, fifteen minutes max so there is no need to sit. Most non church weddings I’ve been to the wedding party remains standing up front .

However, I have been to plenty of church weddings that run upwards of an hour and in that case even the bride and groom sit for part of it haha

I think it depends on length. If you’re having a long wedding, it wouldn’t be kind to ask your attendees to stand for that long. Our attendees stood, but our ceremony, though religious, was not long. I’ve always seen the attendees stand. Another thing to consider would be the health of your attendees, and if standing would be uncomfortable for them.

futuremrs2020 :  Same! Every wedding that I’ve been in and attended has had the whole wedding party standing the whole time.

I’ve never been to a wedding where they didn’t stand. We had our party stand up there with us, but our ceremony was pretty short (probably like 15 min start to end). If we had like a long catholic type ceremony I would have had them sit to be more comfortable.

bluejaybride :  it depends on length and space. I have been to long religious weddings where even the bride and groom sit.

We are having an intimate wedding with just a Maid of Honour and Best Man. They will walk down the aisle and then be seated, so FH and I can stand alone with our officiant.

bluejaybride :  we had an outdoor ceremony and the bridal party stood with us. I chose ‘other’ because there wasn’t an actual altar for us to stand in front of, but a pergola and flowers
