Hi, we are having about 50 guests at our winter wedding. My fiance and I plan to have only the Maid/Matron of Honor and Best Man
stand up for us. However, I have 5 very dear friends I really want as my bridesmaids. Given the size of the wedding,
I’m thinking of having my bridesmaids walk down the isle, but rather than stand with me, they could sit in the
front row with my parents. Has anyone seen something similar at a smaller wedding? Any other ideas? Thanks!

carre: no, I haven’t seen this before but I don’t think it’s bad or odd I’m sure this can wor just fine. There’s nothing that says you gave to have a bridal party at all. No Maid/Matron of Honor or Bridesmaid or Best Man is fine if you so choose. I think with such a small wedding if you take 7 people for a bridal party the only thing I may query about is making those not in the bridal party feel excluded. The feeling of exclusion may be magnified because of the number of guests. But again it could not be a big deal at all.

I agree with Athenalex, seems like you’re taking a lot of people away from the main group however, I do think it could work… especially if it’s a more casual style wedding. You’re not also pulling 5 more guys from your friends or his friends as escorts, right?

Right. Just bridesmaids. My fiancé is only having a best man.
The wedding is somewhat casual – its in December so we want it to be festive and fun. Thanks both!

We are planning on doing this for our wedding as well. I think it’s nice for the bridal party to be able to watch and especially ladies in heels not have to stand the whole time. Perfect mix of an intimate ceremony and still including everyone.

Good point about the bridesmaids not having to stand in heels!

i had about 70 people at my wedding. I had five bridesmaids, six groomsmen, and one flower girl. They all stood up with us but our ceremony was literally like 7 minutes. I wouldn’t have had it any other way! So do what you feel is right for your wedding and you can’t go wrong!!
