Working on some of my final logistics and need some opinions!
We have chartered two shuttle busses to take guests between the venue and the host hotel, and we’ve also hired two limos to take the bridal party back and forth. Our venue is a boat so once it’s left the dock, the busses and limos are going to sit parked— no possibility of any of those going back and forth all night long. For the bus, everyone gets picked up at the same time, everyone gets dropped off at the same time. The bridal party leaves the hotel an hour earlier and returns at the same time as the guests.
So my question… in my never-ending desire to control costs, I wanted to see what people thought of the bridal party taking taxis to the venue then returning on the shuttle with the rest of the guests. This will save us a very substantial chunk of money, but will also be a little bit of a hassle as we’d have to hail taxis (minor inconvenience in a downtown DC hotel) and we’ll probably have lots of “stuff” with us (personal stuff, not centerpeices or anything).
Would you find it weird/odd for the bridal party to ride on the shuttle bus back to the hotel if you were a guest? I have not asked the bridal party for their preference because I know it, like so many other things, will be “we’re happy to do whatever you think is best!” and if we were to drop the limo’s, my fiance and I would without a doubt pay the taxi fares. We are discouraging people from drinking and driving so taking one of our cars or getting a ride from friends would not work with that concept!
