We love entertaining and feeding people, but we also change our minds up frequently, so we went with some pretty economical choices from Target. We got two sets of the black dinnerware, one blue set, and one red set. Then we can mix and match up the sets so that the colors pop off the black dishes. (Plus, I wasn’t a fan of the bowls with the black sets, so the color sets gives us some better bowls to use for ceral and such.)

We went with the 222 Fifth Bella Vista dishes from Bed Bath and Beyond I love all the colors and the pattern. I wasn’t sure if I should get a pattern because I was afraid it would go out of style, but then my mom told me that she loves her dishes now as much as when she got them and she does use them all the time. I am so happy that we decided to break the white mold and get something unique!

I love this set also, except I think we plan on going with the ice blue!

i have a question for those who registered for 2 (or more) different sets of dishes (just to clarify- i don’t mean one set of every day dishes and one set of fine china, i mean multiple sets of one or the other)
did you register for a complete set of each one? like, 10 place settings of one, and 10 of the other? or did you do half and half?
we finally registered over the weekend and we decided to do a mix of fiestaware and the floral set (posted on the first page). we did 6 of each, so we registered for 12 place settings altogether, which i think is enough, but i’m just wondering what others have done. we both have big families (my fiance especially), so i’m tempted to add a few more.

count me in with the fiesta ware group. i’m trying to decide between going with scarlet, white and black, or going just white. i kinda love the idea of two place settings each of scarlet, lemongrass, turquoise, white, and black. but i dunno how he’ll feel about that. it’s a lot of color!
i already have fine china. i inherited my great grandmother’s china a few years ago. so we won’t be registering for fine china. but every day dinnerware? yes.

I have Chirp and I love it!!! It’s so pretty. My mom bought it for me for my 30th birthday, though, so now I have no need to register for dinnerware. =)

We love Corelle! We each had a set with a different pattern, so we’ve decided to donate our old sets and upgrade to the Shadow Dance pattern:

I already have awesome everyday dishes from Crate & Barrel (white with scribbly black flowers) so we’re registering for nice china only.
Finally decided on Denby’s Lucille Gold:
I like that it’s a 4-piece place setting. We liked other patterns but the dainty teacups and saucers seemed like something we wouldn’t ever use, so we wanted a setting with a deep bowl and a big mug.
We don’t entertain a lot because we have such a small house, but I know that in the future we’ll probably be hosting a lot of the family dinners, so we registered for a full 12 place settings.

This thread is making me a little sad
My china pattern was discontinued, and since I didn’t have all the pieces and didn’t want to spend the money to finish it now I decided to return it all.
I loved the pattern (Modern Love, Monique Lhuillier), but when we looked at it closely, we noticed many flaws like the platinum band not being complete or the bands not being centred, but on a funny angle.
We haven’t found a pattern we like to replace it yet, so we have some high value GCs just sitting here. Hopefully we’ll find something soon! There aren’t many stores that carry china here.
Luckily, we did get everyday Denby dishes that we didn’t even initially register for! It was a boxed set of a mixture of Truffle & Truffle Layers and we registered for a few extra pieces.

Awww, bummer! That’s a pretty pattern, but especially eye-catching when you look at the whole setting with the solid blue band on the salad plate… I wonder why they dc’d it. It’s so unique.

It was Royal Doulton and they discontinued many of their patterns.
