I went to hannelores to get my dress- great service during the dress buying process – however i wouldnt use them for alterations (super expensive). there are quite a few out there though – check yelp for the different ones (hitched in DC, white swan or macy’s bridal in fairfax, etc)

it also depends on what designer you might be looking for as well….

do you know how much you want to spend? or what style you are going for? or what kind of wedding you are having? I have gone to about 10 bridal salons during my quest for my dress – and kinda know the prices and different designers.

I flipped thru magazines and figured with my venue (historic chapel and southern country club) that i wanted something classic but subtley sexy – so went with a lace fit and flare.

They actually have a Vera wang bridal salon in rockville too if you want vera 🙂

ive been to:

Hitched

Macy’s Bridal

Hannelores

Carines Bridal Atelier

Rizik Bridal

Priscillas of Boston

Elle’s bridal

White swan…

and a few more…

i would suggest starting with the full service boutiques so you can get alot of dresses in and get a feel for the whole dress shopping thing and find a style you like :). hannelores, hitched and macy’s are all good starts. appointments are a must!

good luck – and be careful how many people you bring with you early on. go with just 1-2 people if you can anymore than that it clouds your vision and judgement! 🙂

i had a really bad experience at hannelore’s but loved Hitched and Carine’s. ended up buying in NY but got maids from hitched and veil from carine’s and they were both wonderful.

does depend on designer though too – carine’s has more of the high end designers (oscar de la renta, carolina herrera and some other exclusives that you can’t find in other places in town). this also means i think they don’t have much that is under 3K. but its always nice to go look!
