One reason to at least try out NWI is that taxes are so high in Chicago, it’ll add a significant amount to your dress cost. On the other hand, shops in Chicago often have trunk sales and that kind of thing, so you might be able to get a dress at 10-15% off if you go at the right time.

If you go to SW suburbs (ie. not Cook County) then tax isn’t an issue as much. Plenty of shops in Oakbrook area. I can’t speak for NWI, but in terms of Chicago versus suburbs, I did find that suburb prices tend to be a little lower. I ended up getting my dress at Eva’s Bridal in Oak Lawn – completely satisfied with my experience there. They were willing to price match and even go $100 lower on the same dress I had previously tried on at Volle’s – Volle’s was just too far from the city so I wanted to find a store closer to the city to purchase the dress from in case I ended up needing alterations. Another tip besides asking for price match is that if you pay for the entire dress up front or in cash, most stores will give you a discount but obviously you have to be completely sure it’s THE dress cause it’s not like you would only lose out on your deposit if you change your mind.
