My mom and Maid/Matron of Honor both live in Wisconsin where I grew up, but I live in Massachusetts now so planning my wedding has been a bit lonely thus far.
I cannot possibly imagine dress shopping without them, and graciously they’ve offered to fly out to help me pick my dress. So basically I need to book a bunch of appointments over a weekend to maximize the chances of us finding it. I’ve been trying to gather recommendations on great salons in the area so I don’t waste my time with a bad appointment.
So far my recommendations are:
Madelines Daughter in New Husband
Ve’Lace Bridal in Bellingham, MA
Bridal and Gift in North Attleboro, MA
And Precious Memories Bridal in Malden.
Does anyone else have recommendations based on where they got their dress? I’d love any advice!!

I did not attend but I believe my cousin shopped in that area at a store called Terry’s Bridal
They carry alot of nice collections 😀 and a pretty good google review score

- Wedding: September 2015 - Country Club
I live in Upstate NY and made the trip to Boston a few weeks ago. I went to the following:
– Vows (Watertown) – Awesome! Let me try on whatever I wanted, tons of selection, great customer service.
– Camilla’s (Arlington) – I didn’t have the greatest experience here but that was more so because I’m a bigger girl (street size 16) and they didn’t have a big selection in my size. The owner’s mother works there and she was trying to help but just kept giving me dresses in small sizes and then would get mad when I couldn’t get it up over my knees.
-Pure Bliss (Newburyport)- LOVED this place. Great customer service, took awhile to pick through the dresses but I ended up finding ‘the one’ there. I’m ordering next weekend (Maggie Sottero has 10% off then)
-Bride & Belle (Medford) – Lots of dresses to try on, be firm on your budget and desires because I wasn’t and felt like I got railroaded and the dress consultant was super pushy with me.

I second Vows in Watertown – great selection, very nice staff, and great prices. I went to a bunch of other places but Vows was my best experience and where I ended up buying my dress.

I bought my dress at Vows, but by far the best experience I had in dress shopping was at Pearl Bridal in Holyoke, MA. They had a TON of amazing dresses, and it was so nice and private (only one bride in the store, at least for my appointment). Ryan is amazing.

cvaldes13: Go to Ceremony in Beacon Hill!
She doesn’t have a huge selection, but every dress is absolutely beautiful. Not to mention her shop itself is gorgeous. I never wanted to leave.
I got my dress there, and after going to a couple other shops in the area, nothing compared. Alix (the owner) is awesome and so, so easy to work with.

annb9: I worry that the price tag for a shop on Beacon Hill is going to be too high! Were the dresses affordable?
llussier: I live in Norwood where Terry’s is so that would be very convenient!!
Kristina1213: I’ve heard similar reviews about Bride and Belle, but am interested in the shop in Newburyport!
Thanks everyone!! I also have La Reine in Waltham on the list because I want to try some Rosa Clara dresses and I know they carry them there. Has anyone heard anything about them?

cvaldes13: What’s your budget? She carries dresses at a variety of price points. I went in with a budget of 4-5K and ended up buying a dress that was only $2400!
Per your comment above, Ceremony does carry some Rosa Clara dresses. I tried one on and it was beautiful!

cvaldes13: vera wang on Newbury street in Boston. the quality of the gowns are impeccable. pricey but worth a visit so you can see value vs. cost. Ask for Alyssa, she’s a great consultant.
as other brides mentioned, vows in Watertown but make sure its not your first stop. Go to a few salons first because you need to be prepared to buy at vows on the spot – they only carry sample gowns and don’t order gowns like other stores.

Try Elizabeth Anne in Auburn. They were wonderfully sweet there. I didn’t end up buying my dress there but I had a great experience!

cvaldes13: Don’t know if it’s possible for you to travel up to Maine, but Andrea’s Bridal in Portland is wonderful! I actually bought my dress at Madeleine’s Daughter in Portsmouth, New Husband, but I loved my experience at Andreas. They are attentive, sweet and very knowledgable.

also agree with Vows. My dress was an amazing deal for the price !

I bought my wedding dress at La Reine! I had a great experience there… went multiple times (found the dress, brought mom/MIL on a separate trip, then went back a third time to actually purchase it). They have a pretty big selection, and their dresses are organized by price which is so helpful.
I’d also recommend Cristina’s in Andover MA and Vows in Watertown. Would not recommend La Sposa in Newton (small selection and they didn’t listen to my feedback on what I wanted/didn’t want).

I would recommend Ve’Lace and La Reigne. They were both pleasant.
Don’t go to La Sposa. I ended up getting my dress at House of Brides in Woonsocket, RI. They have a huge Allure selection and have been in business since 1950 something.
If you’re looking at other stores in North Attleboro, you could maximize your time at local chains in town (David’s, Alfred Angelo, Aria Bridal)

cvaldes13: I just bought my dress at BHLDN in Chestnut Hill. I had a great experience- the bridal consultant was awesome and really let me take my time. They have dresses ranging from $250 to $3000… most of them are around $1200- $1500. You can look online to see if you like anything. I had an appointment at VOWS in Watertown, but I didn’t go since I found my dress already. I think it would help if you described what kind of style you’re looking for.
