While the bachelorette party is usually with all the younger girls, the bridal shower includes the mother of the bride and of the groom, other relatives, etc.  It is a great way for guests to get to know each other before the wedding.  I think usually someone in the bridal party throws it…the Maid/Matron of Honor probably should be the organizer.  It can be a lovely afternoon!

I think the original idea behind bridal showers was that women were supposed to gather and shower the bride with gifts to furnish her new home with her husband. Now that women are getting married later in life, or have already been living with their grooms, the gifts have gotten creative. The gifts can range anywhere from items off of your registry, to sexy lingerie, or sentimental gifts.

For my Bridal Shower all of my Bridesmaids planned the whole thing. My mother and grandmother are making all the food, but everything else has been a collective effort of all my girls.
