- Wedding: March 2011
Not sure if I am the only one here helping out with their own bridal shower planning, but I am pretty much obsessed! My matron of honor and one of my bridesmaids are throwing my bridal shower but they gave me reign to help plan it as well, because with them knowing me, I am a perfectionist!
Anyway, I decided on a Marie Antoinette theme! I absolutely love everything Marie Antoinette so it was only appropriate. I have had so much fun so far and my girls have been so wonderful! Of course they said there will be some surprises, but for the most part they are letting me choose the overall look of the shower.
I made my own invitations and I couldn’t be happier! I’ve been wanting to start my own invitation and stationary business for a while, so I think this will definitely give me a start. It sure did give me a lot of practice! These invitations took a little over 8 hours to put together!!!!!!! This is not including the design time it took me to create the actual invitation and print them. It was worth every second though! Definitely put me in someone elses shoes for once. I really never realized how much work goes into invitations and I now have a new appreciation for designers who charge an arm and a leg for them! I used lace, stranded faux pearls, rosettes and bows to decorate them.
Here are my bridal shower invitations:
I especially love the rose damask envelope liner! I couldn’t pass the thought up. As you can see in the first picture, I included a directions card insert because the venue we selected is a little hard to find. I included directions from the north, south, east and west, along with the name, address and phone number of the venue. Anyone looking for invitations for their event or shower anytime after March of this year, feel free to contact me. I have a host for a website and will be setting up a shop in Etsy. I say after March because my wedding is the last weekend of March and I really don’t have that much time on my hands right now between everything going on. Not only am I getting married in March but one of my bridesmaids is getting married the weekend before me and I am a bridesmaid in HER wedding! Super exciting for both of us! I loved designing these invitations and am really looking forward to designing others as well!
As far as my outfit goes, I found the most gorgeous corset and skirt on Etsy. It fits the theme perfectly and the girl who is making it for me is such a doll! I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post her products on here, so I may have to wait to post pictures until after I receive it.
So with all of that said… are there any other brides who are helping with the planning of their bridal showers or have you given your bridesmaids full reign to plan it for you?!
