@lovelylight99:  It’s not uncommon to have multiple bridal showers nowadays. The last wedding I was in the bride had 3 showers b/c everyone wanted to throw her their own- her family, her fiance’s family, & her friends. It got to be a bit much in my opinion, but she did make it clear that she didn’t expect the same people to be bringing gifts to each one. I’m also uncomfortable with attention on me but you might find it would be different with family/family-to-be.

Let whoever wants to throw it do so.  My mother threw mine and my girls didn’t mind one bit.  I’ve never heard of multiple showers.  You can always have your bachelorette party with your girls.

It is not uncommon to have more than one shower- FI’s family, your family, work colleagues, church members etc in addition to the one hosted by the bridal party for friends. Sometimes if you try to have one shower for everyone it is just too large.

If your FI’s family want to host a  shower for you, let them. Their feelings may be hurt if they are trying to welcome you to the family and you decline.

I agree with others about the multiple showers. In addition to my friends and family shower, my Mother-In-Law wanted to throw me a shower for my husband’s family and family friends.

I guess you may want to consider whether it’d be more overwhelming to have multiple showers or a TON of people all at one shower? I personally enjoyed having multiple showers with somewhat smaller guest lists at each.

If any of the bridemaids are in the same location as the in-laws, you could introduce them to each other in case they want to cohost one together.

I had 3 showers, in 3 different cities.

My mil threw my shower with the help of my bm’s (one in particular).  Just go with it and have fun.
