It’s not… proper to throw yourself a gift giving party, so that definitely includes showers. If you want one, talk to your bridesmaids or family members. My amazing bridesmaids threw mine at a nice restaurant.

No, it’s not appropriate to throw yourself a party. If someone wants to host one for you then that’s fine but don’t ask someone to have one for you.

In my area usually the bridesmaids and some of the other female family members or close friends throw it. You do not throw a party for yourself. Some people frown upon the mother of the bride hosting also.

@TeeBee25: The point is to “shower the bride with gifts” and celebrate her upcoming wedding. You can ask your bridesmaids, close friends or family members if anyone is planning to throw you a shower. It is most definitely not recommended that you throw yourself one, since the expressed purpose is to get stuff.
