If i was someone invited to both I wouldn’t want to go to the shower and do all that then hve to change to go for a night out- but thats just me.
I also love having more days with exciting stuff going on cause my life is boring! lol

@alishaloo: mine is all on the same day because there are quite a few people coming in from out of town. with gas prices and stuff its just easier and more efficiant cost wise to have it on one day then for them to take multiple trips.

Mine is going to be on the same day! I was very ademant about that! I work 2 jobs and my 2nd job will end on the 2nd weekend of September. My wedding is Oct 13 which only leaves a few weekends to relax and get stuff done. I can’t see having 3 seperate weekends for festivities. Everyone I know loves the idea (except my sister but OH well). If she thinks one long day is bad – imagine if she had to block off two Saturdays plus the rehearsal and the wedding! This is a win-win!

i think that is what we will do. just to save time.

I’m having both on the same day. My shower at 4pm and my bachelorette party starts when we get out to dinner at 7pm. Japanese and Karaoke! Yay Fun! I say why not!

@jmwed12: Hi, date twin! 🙂
Just wanted to chime in. One of my good college friends got married four years ago, and her bridesmaids planned her shower and bachelorette on the same day. Both were a total surprise for the bride. If I remember right, the shower was around 2:00 in the afternoon and lasted about 2 hours max. The bachelorette was scheduled at 6 p.m., which gave guests who were invited two hours to chill in between, get a saucy bachelorette gift if they wanted, change into something different, etc.
The bachelorette was pretty low-key: dinner at a BYOB in Philly and bowling at North Bowl, a swanky lounge/bowling alley/arcade hybrid with awesome tater tots and a bar. We were all fresh out of college in our early 20s, so maybe our crowd had just the right energy to do both events in one day. Either way, it was a total blast and I don’t think anyone felt worn out in a bad way by the end. 😉 It certainly looked like the bride and her bridesmaids had a ton of fun, and I know I did too.
I think that cushion of time between events was key. It gave everyone time to relax and get into party mode. People who lived close enough could just go home for the 2 hours. The rest of us hung out at a nearby mall to look for naughty gifts. ;P

I had that same dillemma and said forget the shower and we’re doing just a bachlorette party. I’d rather go out and have fun with all my girl friends anyway 😉

I’m doing it, but sort of by force- I lost my dad six days before my shower was scheduled to happen, so it got postponed indefinitely, and once my amazing Maid/Matron of Honor convinced me to still have it, we decided the only reasonable day would be the day we’d originally planned for my bachelorette party. So we’re having the shower at like 1, then dinner and drinking in Atlantic City (about an hour from where most of us live) that night, starting around 7 or 8. It’ll be a long day, but I’ve done it for other weddings and it’s really not as bad as you’d think.

I did that for mine. Bridal shower was at like 2pm then after we all came to my house to prefunk and get ready for the night. Then hopped in cabs and went downtown, out to dinner and dancing. It was amazing and everyone loved it.

“Prefunk” I love that lol!
Because my sister is flying in from out of town, we are doing the shower/ bachlorette the same day. Exhausting for everyone but who wants to give up 2 weekends for the bride’s extra festivities these days???

I think thats a fun idea, I don’t think it would be too stressful and would make a really fun all day/ night experience!
