My mom is planning a bridal shower for me and I was originally wanting to do a lighter fare lunch option for food but now I’ve been seeing all these brunch buffet optionsand I’m leaNing toward that.. I feel like early afternoon is when showers would be (I’ve never been to a bridal shower only babies). I don’t like the plated dinner option at all, I don’t want a 5pm shower and the couple people I’ve asked had 1 option of dinner for everyone. The place I’m looking into has a brunch buffet option with scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage, bacon, hash browns, french toast, fresh fruit and mini muffins, I would also do a butler passed strawberry champagne punch or mimosas with this 🙂
What do you all think? The brunch spread or a plated hot meal of one option for everyone?

I think the menu depends on when you are holding the shower. The timing of the shower depends on the availability of the guests. If the guests are all women who work traditional hours outside the home, an early afternoon or brunch shower could only be held on a weekend.
A brunch menu would be great. Showers here seem to be less elaborate that what I read about on this site. They are usually held in someone’s home with light refreshments. We often have an evening shower so no one has to give up one of their weekend days.

I definitely like less elaborate! I wanted it at our house but my fiance is saying no to that idea and wants me to have something nicer. I don’t want elaborate food, centerpieces, any of that. I feel like the brunch, early day (weekend) is nice and simple. I like simple lol.

I love brunch showers! But I might be biased because both of my showers were brunch showers 😉 I hate the idea of a plated meal in general for a shower. Just seems very stiff and formal. Plus more expensive!

yes, stiff and formal is what I’m aiming NOT to do! 🙂 I agree. I love all the things I see on pinterest with buffets and spreads of things, especially elaborate dessert spreads! Haha

I voted for Brunch!
I am actually doing a breakfast (Breakfast with the Bride) and doing all the things at a typical Brunch (plus a mimosa bar) but just at breakfast time around 10am.
We are doing my bachelorette that night since I have some bridesmaids coming in from out of state. That way it all gets done in one day!

oh very clever! I have a bridesmaid that’s out of state and she can’t afford to come out besides for the wedding 🙁 I’m thinking of paying for her ticket to come to either the shower or bachelorette, she’s my best friend! Thanks for your input :):)
