i think it helps to actually go to the mall or stores to look. when i was looking i found dresses online and then went to try them on and they were totally different than what i wanted. i ended up finding mine at target.

Ok I know this is going to sound totally lame but..ever been to Dress Barn? The store name is so awful BUT they have a huge selection of dresses at reasonable prices.  Their regular clothes can be geared toward older women, but some of their dresses are super cute.

I got a really great dress for my engagement party at Filenes Basement.  It had a high retail price tag, but after Filenes discount – it was just in the right price range.

i also think im going to head to dress barn. my mother dragged me there a few months ago to look for a dress for her for a work party and i tried to talk her out of it because i thoought it would be a terrible place but they had TONS of cute dresses

i am going to head there for a rehearsal dress i thinK!

Being online a lot in my business, I occasionally run into some neat sites (like weddingbee!) and one I just saw this week was the Shabby Apple.  I thought their dresses were TOO cute, especially for showers.  Not sure how it fits your price range, but most I looked at were under $100.
