dresses are pretty typical for bridal showers that I have been to. some people will wear dress pants but the bride almost always wears a dress. I’m wearing a dress to mine and I’m pretty sure all my bridesmaids are too. to me bridal showers are generally “church attire”.

bridetobe166:  What a weird statement. The bride and guests can all wear whatever they like to a bridal shower. I eloped so didn’t have a shower as the bride. But as a guest, I usually wear a dress unless it’s really cold. Then I wear nice pants and a sweater. Honestly, I can’t tell you what any of the brides wore ever — I don’t remember at all. I kind of assume dresses, but again, I haven’t the faintest memory of any of their outfits. I’m in the US.

I didn’t wear a dress but that doesn’t mean you can’t! its typical of the ones I’ve gone to for the bride to wear a dress. I just felt more comfortable in a nice shirt and black jeans And heels. More “me” 🙂

Some things said by people need to be completely disregarded. I’m sure you know that many (most!) brides wear dresses to their shower Like most people would to any event in their honor.

Who cares what everyone else wears, you’re the bride. Do what you want.

bridetobe166:  Dresses are very common. I have never been to a bridal shower where they wore anything else.

In my experience most people wear dresses and often the bride to be will wear some sort of white dress (typically short and daytime appropriate) so I’d say wear your dress unless you know you’ll be doing something that’s better suited to jeans …

What else would you think of wearing instead of a dress? Jeans!? dress is the way to go, you can never be overdressed, especially when you are the guest of honor!!

bridetobe166:  every shower I’ve been to is usually pretty dressy, so the bride to be has always worn a dress. I bought a really cute short white one of mine.

I didn’t wear a dress to mine (only because it was a surprise, but my sister brought dresses for me to change into) but as a guest I always wear dresses. Its your shower, you can wear whatever you feel good in!
