I found a dress on Rent the Runway I really like for my bridal shower. I reserved it, but now I’m having second thoughts. What do you think about wearing this dress with flats to a bridal shower? I worry that it is too fancy/wedding-dressy. I don’t want my future in-laws to think that I’m super fussy or high-maintenance if I overdress (Is it possible to overdress for your shower??). For context, the event will be held during the day in a private room in a nice restaurant and brunch will be served. I’d love to get your opinions because I have never attended a shower before.

Its adorable! I was really nervous about my shower dress (hot pink and also quite puffy) but it photographed beautifully and made me stand out as the bride! I got so many compliments on my choice and am still getting them weeks later! Moral of the story: Its one of the only chances you get to really stand out and be the center of attention! Take advantage 🙂

I wore a dress like that but it had sleeves. My shower was at a nice restaurant, though.

shellybee13: Thanks, that’s definitely my attitude towards all pre-wedding events. I love getting dressed up and want to have tons of fun with it 🙂 I think the dress will make for some beautiful photographs.
gelaine22: Thanks for the input!

futuremrsdeemac: i like it – but personally, I wouldn’t wear flats with it

Daizy914: Would you recommend heels or strappy sandals like the model is wearing in the photo?

i’d wear colored heels with it, if it were me. but its a very cute dress!

futuremrsdeemac: you can do either pumps or strappy heels, I would stick with nude pumps or a silver or light gold strappy shoe

futuremrsdeemac: Hmmm…it’s a brunch? I think it’s a great dress, but more or a going out/night time thing. I wouldn’t bother with what your in-laws might think, I’m just not sure it goes with a day time event.

I’m wondering if people in the review photos, if it’s super poofy…
Sometimes in the model image the dress is amplified.
I’d probably wear strappy sandals, not flats.
In order to dress it down wear your hair down and wavy (not overly done up) and less makeup (focus on lashes not shadow), subtle accessories.

futuremrsdeemac: I Say go for it. It’s a pretty dress I will wear with with some color heels. It’s one time for you to shine, just shine and enjoy to ride.

I just reserved that for my bachelorette, so I’m obviously biased, but YES! Make sure you have a short slip or boyshorts to wear under it, though, all the reviews from taller ladies said it was too short without one.
