I’m panicked that only a small fraction of the bridal shower guests will be attending my shower! I don’t really have anything to base this off of as my Maid/Matron of Honor is hostessing the party and so only she knows who is coming and not coming but, I just can’t shake this feeling that I’m going to show up and only have a few family members and my BM’s there and waiting an hour into it only to realize that no one else is coming!
I think it’s because my shower is this Sunday and I keep checking my registry only to find that 3 items have been purchased. Don’t get me wrong, I really don’t care about the gifts and the registry is probably not the best indicator of how many friends and family are coming but, I just can’t shake this paranoia!
Has anyone had a bridal shower that ended up a huge flop? How do you recover from such a disappointment?!

@NikkiKillpretty: Don’t panic! A lot of people got stuff from my registry but failed to update the list. I literally thought no one was coming to mine and was extremely nervous but It turned out okay! Honestly, I think I had TOO many people show up! I would have much rather had a small group of people. You will have a great time regardless, and if not many people show up then that’s their loss!

@NikkiKillpretty: don’t worry. sometimes stores don’t update the registry or the shoppers forget to say this is a registry item. but more than likely, your shower is on sunday, people will probably buy gifts on friday and saturday.
now i know you know everything on your registry. but stop being a snooper and be surprised when you open all the gifts.

@NikkiKillpretty: at mine a lot of people bought non registry gifts and bought gift cards so its not a bad sign. Also, many many people are last minute shoppers! They still have a week so you will probably see a lot of things go off the registry this week.

Sorry, I have a similar feeling for my shower tonight. :/ So far, only 4 people are confirmed… Me, planner, and both FGMILs. One of which I had to call to make sure she got the invite in the first place, and she thought it was tomorrow. Even my friend, who I originally thought was coming, hasn’t responded to either the invite, the planner, or me.

I honestly thought no one would rsvp to mine (it’s next month) but as far as those go, I’ve got an 75% turnout rate, which I think is pretty good! Sometimes when it’s a party in our honor we think no one will show up when the complete opposite is true. I hope you have a lovely shower. 🙂

@ajillity81: +1, I’m such a last minute, bridal shower registry shopper. I usually end up suffering though because all the “good” things are gone.

I wanted to update… There were 7 of us in all (however the wedding is small and 15 or so were invited to the shower), but you know what? We had a ton of fun and it was really personable. If you have at least a few energetic attendees, it’ll end up being a good time.
