I’ve been more emotional than usual (wedding is less than 4months away) and lately I find myself snapping about the stupidest things.. so now I just got mad and I’m starting to think that if it wasnt for wedding stress I probably wouldnt be acting like this? Please let me know if you think I’m becoming crazy.
Our registry for the shower has just like every other registry “Requested Items” and as many of you know it looks like this
Requested __1__ Purchased __0__ – if it was purchased than obviously it would say 1, if only 1 was requested.
Our shower is in a few weeks (invites have already gone out) and people have started shopping. Today I logged in again and I noticed that there are.. 4 ITEMS that were not requested that have been bought – WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS? I didn’t request it, I don’t want it.. am I just being a bitch? I feel like I should be glad that people are willing to buy me gifts but at the same time it’s like WTF? also, one of the first few gifts that was bought (beer bugs) were a whopping 10 dollars, I dont want to assume that one person just bought this, but if that is the case, what makes them think that $10 is enough to spend on a person? I myself spend anywhere between 75-100 for shower gifts for other people.

I know its easy to get upset that people aren’t buying what you want… but its a gift, you can’t tell them what to buy. The registry is just a “suggestion” list.
I too have noticed some “Requested 0, Purchased 1” gifts on our registry, but I’m excited for them – they are mainly matching items to other things we registered for that have been purchased.
Also about the price thing: What you spend on your friends’ shower gift isn’t necessarily what others can spend on you. What makes them think $10 is enough to spend… that might be all that they have. Or, they might be giving you something else, or something handmade, to accompany your beer mugs.
Just try to be grateful, its the thought that counts… you can always return stuff you don’t like. Be excited that people ARE buying you shower gifts!

I agree with the PP. I don’t think you’re becoming crazy, but if you don’t let this go, you’re going to drive yourself nuts. People can buy you anything they want. And people can spend as much as they want or have. It is completely acceptable for someone to spend $10 on you.

It’s easy to get upset about that, but think of the thought they are trying to put into the gift to make it personal. I had several people at my shower give me gifts that weren’t on the registry (and not even from the stores where we had registries) but it was such a nice and refreshing surprise to get something new that I didn’t know about! Try to think positive. You can always return it!

Thanks guys, I’ll try to stay positive I guess and not let this get to me. I think just this and everything else I’m dealing with is just too much too handle. MEH!

Beer bugs might be going with a gift card? Or another present?

It has also happend that when people purchase other items while they check out it automatically adds those items to your registry. So, if someone purchases you a towel set and buys “beer bugs” at the same time those items would show up…. not saying that is what happened, but there have been other bees who have posted about this.
I think the gift that showed up on her registry was a cup from the movie cars and she was like WTF?

One of my mom’s cousin told my mom she got “a little something” for the groom that she’s putting with my shower gift… So, maybe that’s what the beer mugs are for?

@sweetpeony: I echo this thought! I was just stalking checking our registry for accuracy (haha), and I noticed that we have intense moisturizing hand lotion on there now as a requested 0, purchased 1, type of item. Someone must have bought it while they were buying something else. My other friend had Cetaphil show up on hers…hope they weren’t trying to tell her something! 🙂

Yes as some pps said, other items purchased at the same time can show up on your registry. My recommendation- DO NOT REGISTRY STALK, it’s no fun anyway in the end to get what you know has been bought!
