You usually register at either, Bed Bath and Beyond or Macys’ or any store that you and your Darling Husband wants gifts from, for your house or future house whatever your situation is.

@lawbride88:  Generally people just buy off your wedding registry. Home stuff. Unless it’s a lingerie party or something else with a theme.

yep, we registered on Amazon and at Crate and Barrel. I imagine that is where most gifts will come from.

For my sister’s shower, the hostess asked her what type of shower she wanted. Meaning, if she wanted gifts off the registry or lingerie etc. My sister being the clean freak that she is, had a “cleaning” bridal shower. All guests brought items that were cleaning related for their new home. Kind of different. At my shower, no one asked, and most of my gifts came from my Registry.

Normally, people get you home goods off your registry.  But sometimes people have themed showers such as stock the bar, lingerie, honeymoon, etc.

The gifts should be something the bride/couple can use in their new life together.  They should not be personal gifts for the bride.  The only exception would be lingerie showers since it could be argued that the man would also benefit from those gifts.

The concept of the gifts being for only the bride is left over from the days when women were mostly homemakers.   Any gifts for the home (dinnerware, flatware, blenders, toasters, vacuums, cooking supplies) were considered to be for the bride since, as the woman, she would be the one using all of those things.

@lawbride88:  If you have two showers, one with friends and one with family, the one with friends could be more naughty and you could let them know your sizes for lingerie, but generally a wedding shower provides gifts for the couple (but lets be honest, our fiance’s probably don’t care about a lot of that stuff, so its mostly for us lol). Bed bath and beyond is a great store to register, but you can also do macys, kohls, crate and barrel if there is one by you, williams and sonoma. You could also look into an Amazon.com one, but those may be more difficult for older guests who don’t like to use the internet to shop.

@lawbride88:  Couples showers are more popular these days, although i’ve never been to one. I think thats a great way to go as long as your fiance is comfortable with it!
