mrsDJD5115 – 23 guests were invited to my shower and only 8 people are coming…. I live in NYC and my shower will be in Maine (where my family lives and where the wedding will be). Don’t feel lame! It will be fun regardless 🙂

I invited 45 and had 25 rsvp yes. A couple didn’t make it last minute, so it was probably 23 there. I also had like 10 people who didn’t even bother to say yes or no (obviously no since they didnt come). These numbers include me, my bridesmaids, my mom, etc.

My Maid/Matron of Honor is inviting 28 and I expect about 12 will attend. I think 16 sounds like a great number!

mrsDJD5115:  I think we invited about 60 people, and about 35 came. I think it’s pretty normal for a shower. I wouldn’t get too down about it.

I think a little less than 20 came to mine. I was disappointed leading up to it because several people weren’t able to come (including my Future Sister-In-Law, who didn’t even bother RSVPing!!), but I ended up having a lovely time.

I think smaller showers are nicer actually. I once went to a shower with about 80 guests and it was way over the top. It felt like a female-only wedding, lol. And no one wants to watch you open gifts for an hour.

mrsDJD5115:  While my shower had a high attendence rate (out of about 30 people, 2 declined) I would have never expected it to happen.  I think it just worked out for me that a lot of the people we invited are at the point in their lives where they both financially and time wise can put things down and attend something.  My aunts are all empty nesters and a few are retired or semi-retired.  My friends are in that stage where they are recently engaged or recently married and don’t yet have kids with Monday through Friday jobs.

definietly not alone! I didn’t have that many people come to mine either. I believe only like 9 people came and then family members as well. Don’t worry about it too much….you’ll still have a good time!

My mom invited 100 and 80 came, but the people that didn’t come were mostly from out of town and sent gifts and/or cards. Not everyone can go to everything you know? BTW- my invite number is so large because we only had one bridal shower with both sides of the family haha

My shower had around 27 people attend, 2 of those being little girls.  My side consisted of my mom, grandma, my 5 bridesmaids and 1 friend.  The rest was my fiance’s family.  I was sort of feeling “lame” as well when I realized the majority of the guests attending were from my fiance’s side, but once I got to the shower, I never felt more special or loved. Your bridal shower will be lovely no matter how many people attend.

On the flip side, I hosted a shower as Maid/Matron of Honor where the MOB invited 60 people without consulting me and THEY ALL SHOWED plus about 5 uninvited guests. It was massive work getting that shower together and the bride was beyond overwhelmed and anxious for most of it. Later, her Future Mother-In-Law threw her a second shower with about 15 in attendance and it was quaint, relaxing and fun for everyone. So there ya go.

16 sounds like a great number – I always have more fun at smaller showers.

I think 50 were invited and I don’t remember how many showed up but maybe 45?
