So, my mother is throwing me a bridal shower :::Yay::: however, she wants to do it @ her house. It’s average size (1,400 sq ft) however, my dad has his deer heads plastered all over their house. Lovely? 🙂 Anyway, I wanted to do a pink Parisian style luncheon/bridal shower and there should be about 20-30 ppl in attendence. I think their space won’t work due to size as well as the overwhelming decor. Any other ideas for throwing a bridal shower (I’ve never been to one or thrown one and my mom has never thrown one) So, I’m wondering if you gals have seen some budget friendly showers? Thanks 🙂

Do you have a yard space?
I would do an afternoon finger food setup.
For the Parisan theme, use empy wine bottles for water and lemonade. You can label them with pretty little labels hanging around the necks made out of a notecard and ribbon.
small Croissants and rolls with sandwich fixings so people can make small sandwiches however they please (basic stuff like turkey, ham, 2 kinds of cheese, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato and more fun stuff if you think people would like it like roasted red peppers, spicy mustard, flavored mayo, cranberry sauce, avocado, bacon etc)
Salad Nicoise http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ni%C3%A7oise_salad
Brochettes- really its a small bite size anything- especially on a toothpick like prosciutto wrapped melon or marinated chicken with a sauce to dip it in
For decor, i would use soft pinks, blues and whites.
See what cheap light fabric or table clothes you can find and layer them on tables to create depth and interest.
Maybe you can string leaves or flowers together you pick yourself to make garlands for the table. Something like these?
The Fleur de lys is really french. Maybe you can find a nice piece of wood and paint it on it? Or paint it on the wine bottles or other places?
It looks like this.

You are lucky you live in San Diego so an outdoor shower will work for your dates.

Thanks for the great ideas, I actually live in SD but the shower will be at my mom’s house in Ohio, in August. I’m wondering if it may be too hot then to do it outside? Ill need to check w/the farmers almanac

It may be to hot to do it outside. As for other locations, sometimes a country club or restaurant will have a space you can rent at an inexpensive rate. My friend’s Maid/Matron of Honor hosted her’s at a local restaurant that isn’t open for lunch so we had the space to our selves and they only charged $150 for use of the restaurant plus the cost of food and beverage. You can bring in all the decor yourself and really make it your own.
Something else I was going to suggested because you’ll likely be receiving gifts at your shower and you’ll need to ship them back to SD. I just had my shower in FL, I live in San Fran so I needed to ship 6 boxes. I used http://www.busfreighter.com/ and only paid $136 for 6 boxes, 200+ pounds. My parents dropped my boxes off at the grey hound depot on Friday and I picked them up on Monday, it’s cheap and quick! And nothing was broken or damaged!!

What a fun theme! Try local churches, community centers, secret society type places (Masons etc), local restaurants, even some local libraries rent rooms. Have fun!

@sparkedlove11: What a good idea~!
After much debating we decided to do it @ my parents house. I dont think the guest list will be as large as we initally thought. Just ordered the invites, now the planning begins!

THe bride really isn’t supposed to be very involved in the planning, etiquette-wise it’s liek you’re helping throw a party where the entire prupose is for people to bring you gifts. So I’d say make your anti-deer head preference known but leave everything else up to the hosts to decide. Well, other than the guest list, of course that should be something you’re involved in.
